Elizabeth Banks On Playing Laura Bush In 'W': "It's All About" The "Republican Hair"

The Dish Rag recently caught up with Elizabeth Banks, who plays first lady Laura Bush in Oliver Stone's controversial new George W. Bush film, "W."

DR: What's the secret to playing a believable Republican first lady?

EB: "It's all about the hair. Hair speaks volumes about every politician's wife. And I think you'll be impressed with my version of Laura Bush's very Republican hair. I did meet Laura once, in 2003, long before I knew I'd be playing her."

I was watching "Breach" today. Kathleen Quinlan is the spitting image of Laura Bush in that movie. Would've been a much better choice. In that movie she plays a woman whose husband is traitor to the US. Gee is that what "W" is about?

Oliver Stone has let his hatred of the administration get in the way of good judgment and seems set to make another loser. If preaching to the choir gets him off, fine. However, he's soon going to find it difficult to find anyone to back his films.

Not a very good likeness --- lousy casting. Laura is a bit more on the "goofy looking" side , don't you think. Her choice in men proves it.

No, it's actually all all about the cracks in that shiny pharmaceutical sugary glaze.
The kind where you seem to be looking into opposite corners of the room at once.
And the bottom of your face doesn't quite match the expression at the top.

It's like those little horizontal strip image games we played with as kids where disparate elements made the picture.

I really don't think you can act that. --- you have to be dosed into it.

But I do think Lura Bush should get an Oscar for Aquiescent Animatronics.
