I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Fox News desperately needs a fact checker in its graphics department. MSNBC's David Shuster caught this gem from a Fox report on the Iranian missile tests. The graphic that Fox used to identify the Strait of Hormuz put the strait in the wrong location, and misspelled "strait." For good measure, the Fox reporter also mispronounced "Hormuz."

Watch it (the segment is about two minutes into the video).

Ron Burgandy could get a job at Fox news.

This is what comes from hiring a bunch of bimbos (male and female) and propping them up as journalists. Like putting lipstick on a pig.

Talk about fiddling while Rome burns. The Fox news people are trying to incite yet another war. And MSNBC’s major complaint? Spelling and pronunciation . Way to go for the jugular!

Next MSNBC exclusive: Fox new channel, low on toner at the third floor printer? That shocking video coming up!

From THINKPROGRESS.ORG on 04-16-07:

A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last.

The results about Fox News echo findings of previous surveys. In 2003, University of Maryland researchers studied the public’s belief in three false claims — that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. The researchers stated, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.” Fox News viewers were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions."

So? Faux Noise viewers can tell us all the things that are real important in life such as the latest in the Natalie Holloway case.

Oh please I have been hearing we are going to go to war with Iran since 2003. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. At least we will not start it. Not one preperation has been made to go to war with Iran.

That's how they prepare you - by talking about it so much that when it finally does happen, you won't think anything of it. In fact, you'll say, "It's about time!"

So tell me, why wasn't that the case with Iraq. We have let some two-bit nation pin us down for years in Iraq. We did have a gripe with Afghanistan but we totally flubbed that war by pulling our troops out to send them to Iraq. Preparedness and President Bush are words or concepts that are worlds apart.

Bush will engage in a military strike before leaving office. If hell freezes over and McLame is elected President, he WILL go to war with Iran. Preparation? Are you kidding me? We are talking about republicans. "You go to preemptive war with the army you have not the army you want".

Fox news sucks, but has some good looking women! Morning Joe should be off the air because this show is worse than anything on the air at Fox. Tucker Carlson should be banned from TV. Keith should take a pill every once in a while and please, give me something different than "Life behind bars" every night. At least Fox gets a story right every so often. Taken as a whole, I'm over 60 and this is the worst that I ever remember seeing the MSM. As a group they are pathetic and arrogant. The only thing that they want is a good shot of their hair and a good party to go to. They have forgotten what real reporting is and how to do it.

So funny. Here is Faux news on the side of GB and they don't know the location of the
country where your troops, Iraqi civilians and other innocents are being killed each and
every day?
Hey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, a chunk of Syria and Jordan are between Iran and Israel you
dumb excuses for a news network! No wonder they can't get together any decent
reporting, they don't know where they are.

Roper poll conducted for National Geographic. Americans 18-24. May 2006.
> On a map, percentage that couldn't find: Louisiana, 33%; Mississippi, 48%; India, 47%; Iraq, 60%; Israel, 75%.
> Six in 10 did not know the border between North and South Korea is the most heavily fortified in the world. Thirty percent thought the most heavily fortified border was between the United States and Mexico.
> Fewer than three in 10 think it important to know the locations of countries in the news and just 14 percent believe speaking another language is a necessary skill.
> Nearly three-quarters incorrectly named English as the most widely spoken native language.

A nation of idiots. Any wonder Faux News is so widely watched? Any wonder things are such a mess?

Wait! A saving grace. 100% knew the latest American Idol winner.

America is the Land of the Free. And we are free to be dumb. What goes for news on our networks and cable is pathetic. CBS, NBC, and ABC news are basically devoted to human interest stories and other rubbish. If you want news you better go to BBC news online (although they have their own biases) they still do report what is going on around the world.

I would remind you that the educational system is overwelmingly liberal. So take a good long hard look in the mirror.

Actually, there are many more conservative states than liberal ones running K-12 public school systems. And, by the way, despite their markedly higher number, their average academic achievement is markedly lower. To wit:

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is the nation's largest nonpartisan, individual membership organization of state legislators, with more than 2,400 legislator members from all 50 states, and 86 former members serving in the U.S. Congress. Its self-proclaimed mission is "to advance the Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government, federalism, and individual liberty…" It annually publishes a Report Card on American Education, ranking the 50 states + DC. Now, 29 of those electoral vote jurisdictions were red in both of the last two presidential elections. 19 were blue. ALEC's right-wing orientation notwithstanding, on average, its latest Report Card ranks the blue states in the top half, the red states in the bottom half. On average, the blue states ranked 8% higher.
