LA Times:

McCain, who is about to become the GOP nominee, has made several statements about how he divorced Carol and married Hensley that conflict with the public record.

In his 2002 memoir, "Worth the Fighting For," McCain wrote that he had separated from Carol before he began dating Hensley.

"I spent as much time with Cindy in Washington and Arizona as our jobs would allow," McCain wrote. "I was separated from Carol, but our divorce would not become final until February of 1980."

An examination of court documents tells a different story. McCain did not sue his wife for divorce until Feb. 19, 1980, and he wrote in his court petition that he and his wife had "cohabited" until Jan. 7 of that year -- or for the first nine months of his relationship with Hensley.

Although McCain suggested in his autobiography that months passed between his divorce and remarriage, the divorce was granted April 2, 1980, and he wed Hensley in a private ceremony five weeks later. McCain obtained an Arizona marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife.

How can we still possible give the Republicans the moral stamp of approval! Poverty and protecting our Planet is a Moral issue. loving thy neighbor, protecting families, and once and for all embracing and acknowledging that “ All Men and Women are Created Equal” and it’s about time we Stand Up for that! Manipulating people, and dividing us is not walking the walk and is not leading by example, our politicians have an moral obligation for keeping to the highest ethical standards, it’s an oath and that’s the sacrifice they owe us when they decide to go into public service, period.

Makes it a wonder just WHY the Dems have had so little backbone in so much as they have continuously ceded such as "morality/religon/patriotismaticals and etc as the GOP rattle the cages....Why do the Dems NOT stand up for themselves is cause for why odinary folks to wonder whether IS true that if so UNABLE to stand up against the OBVIOUS bullying from the GOP, they fail and turn tail , it has become synonomous with indicating they would turn tail in regards to OTHER NATIONAL matterings...The Dems may be attempting to "take high ground" (as in lie the kid glove treatment/defference by Obama to Clinton and even McCain...)Problem is , ordinary's take it as having NO GUMPTION, or that the various Dems are just to fearful and weak or worse(comp;icit in their OWN transgression and not wanting exposed or harped on or etc/etc/etc) TIme for the Dems to speak up and back and loudly, clearly and distinctly...Turning the other cheek just allows for another hypocritical paddling ...some recognize it, too many do NOT so the Dems get tagged as weak/spineless whimpouts time after time !!!

I can't believe that anyone really cares about this one way or the other.
I don't have anything against the Clintons, but, Bill kind of lowered the bar on fidelity don't you think?
There are too many important issues to think about. This is going nowhere. No one is shocked about things like this any more.

Point isn't wheather Mccain was faithful or not.
Point IS he can't get anything straight.
Point IS he is either senile, or a typical lying repub.

He actually needs to pic Joe Liberman as his running mate and keep him close by his side so he can try to keep his foot out of his mouth.

Precisely..(ie, the point being he can NOT get any too much straight...) THis past week he was courting PA voters, regaled the tale of how when as a POW , when tortured/interogated, he "gave up the Steelers linemen names...Problem is , in his book , it was the Greebay Packers (same in movie and other retellings along the way) and one more problem with the STORY...FEW IF ANY WOULD HAVE ACTUALLY >>>KNOWN

while it's true that issues like this don't faze most people, they're relevant because mccain desperately tries to portrays himself as pure and good.

Give us an example of how McCain has tried to portray himself as "pure and good." It seems to me that he has accepted blame for a number of events in his life.

McImmoral is sure to enjoy what lies just over the horizon: Vicki Iseman, telecom lobbyist. The story is being kept on simmer and the rest of it will be presented in a most timely way, I'm sure.

Despicable and unethical he seems when one considers his corporate-favorable legislation always trumps legislation favorable to the individual. His motto: More middle/lower class taxation without representation.

Arizona is discovering that their soft-spoken, country bumpkin senator is a bit more than they voted for.

He's simply a liar, has a short fuse, and is totally awash in corporate santorum. A degenerate's trifecta!

This mult-million dollar heiress falls for a married Mccain, I would find it hard that she would fall for a single Mccain !!

McCain and Obama are not running for HUSBAND of the United States.

If McCain were a Democrat, there'd be 24/7 coverage of this story in the MSM.

I'll bet he was cheating with Carol while she was still married to his "friend" at flight school, too. Republican family values...what a crock.

Even if this were not true, Senator McCain is so not going to get my vote. Not withstanding temperment, narcissism, or other shortcomings....he is NOT the one.

This issue is cold coffee.

Huffingtonpost could teach Hillary a thing or two about the 'kitchen sink' strategy. It's amazing how some people want to stick with the facts and avoid the personal attacks - until it is in their favor to do so.
Still, I at least appreciated the story for the siting of the personal decency of the Reagans and it does remind you how nice it would be to have a president like Obama whose dedication to his family seems to have outweighed selfishness and temptation for bad conduct in his adult life.
I hope that he keeps going to churches and challenging all the young men in this country to act like men.
