Miss Usa

During the evening wear portion of the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant in Vietnam, Miss USA Crystle Stewart of Texas took a tumble. Stewart tripped on the train of her gown, becoming the second Miss USA in a row to fall down during the competition. Last year, Miss USA Rachel Smith also fell down during the evening wear competition.

Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza won the Miss Universe 2008 crown.

Gorgeous women. Not sure what she's like in person, but she can sure recover from a public fall with style and grace. I did a beauty pageant when I was 14 and all I could think about was falling.

By the way, the pageant was completely NOT my idea and the only thing that convinced me to do it was the $2000 prize.

Are we now going to change the law and have some subsidy for Pageants and ban heels and dresses for future pageants so this will not happen again. Some Liberals may even ban it since it might offend someone that she fell and looked like an idiot on the world stage lets blame Fox News Or the Rebublicans for this

The symbolism is more stimulating than the actual "beauty contest". For the last two years, the US rep competing internationally is the only one to embaressingly fall before the eyes of the world - and the winner of the competition this time around ends up being a country that does everything entirely differently and embraces socialistic values - and is led by a flamboyant leader who declares that the US president is the devil incarnate. Who knew that the Miss Universe competition would end up as a script of a modern parable in the making.

The weight of her fake hair and extensions is what caused her to fall.
03:11 AM on 07/15/2008
So, is that what caused the white girl last year to fall too; fake hair and extensions. I detect a little racism in your comment. And if so knock it off!

Wow. Are you from the south?

Here is a news flash: MOST of us don't think of things like fake hair extensions or even flamboyantly done fingernails is a "black thing". Its just a girl thing. In this cas eI am sure most of those model "beauty contestants" of every color wore extensions etc.

The only time i have ever run across that wierd connection between blacks and grooming was in the south where I mentioned to an in-law that I used to paint hieroglyphics on my fingernails. She GASPED, looked appalled and went, "but thats a black thing!"

This was met by me looking at her like she had horns b/c I am from BC Canada where there really aren't many blacks and its a grooming thing. My observation in the south was that there was a cultural divide over crap like that that was fostered and carried on by BOTH sides. How stupid.

NO they were both CLutzes and just because she was black had nothing to do with so no racisim I am sure was implied, have to admit she got up quick and with a smile would rather have seen a header and not a slip

I suppose you do not know much about fashion these days. Most of the white girls with long locks (eg Jessica Simpson, Fergie, Paris Hilton, BRITNEY SPEARS, Lindsay Lohan, Miley Cyrus, Pamela Anderson - the list is endless) all wear extensions. Three quarters of the girls on the runway that evening had extensions. Just because they have straight hair doesnt mean they have the right volume and/or texture. The question begs - what is your point?

In the words of Donnie McClurkin...

"We fall down but we get up!"

I THINK HER GENERAL BABACIOUSNESS...

More than makes up for her temporary lapse. I thought she recovered very well and should've gotten points for that....

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to stand up because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don't have balance and, uh, I believe that our, uh, gravity like such as, uh, South Pole and, uh, the Equator, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our balance over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Pole and should help the Earth and the Asian countries, so we will be able to stand up in the future, for our children.

Very good! Thanks to Jim Rome I also have Miss Teen South Carolina permanently burned into my data-bank.

I think she fell as a result of being another person with a ridiculously spelled name.

Does she pronounce it like Crystal or gristle?

Um, shouldn't we be blaming this on Bush somehow?

Why bother; the whole clan has plenty enough to answer for:

Still the fishmonger I see, even with a modification of your original scatological screen name. .. got banned for your screed, did you "fish?"

Lezland, I'm not sure what screen name you're referencing. The only scatological findings I can uncover here are those between your ears.

CNN (Clinton News Network) will probably say it's racist for us to laugh, and Jesse Jackson will want to cut the nuts off all white people who laugh.

Keith Olberdork's ratings will fall even further as he nearly has a heart attack while saying laughter is evil, and blames Bush for allowing laughter in the U.S.

Micro-bio? Sounds serious.

Maybe if they wore shoes instead of stilts.
10:27 PM on 07/14/2008
What's going on? Are the US pageant officials making them wear heels that are an inch too high?
08:59 PM on 07/14/2008
these comments are priceless!! I don't think I've ever laughed so much while reading this blog! I'm glad we have such grounded perspectives on this cattle parade. Now, if only we could apply them to american politics.

Can't have a contestant fall and win. All the contestants at future pageants would be falling all over themselves. [sarcasm]
