Helen Mirren: Bathing Bikini Beauty

Most women only a few days away from their 63rd birthday would be steering well clear of the beach.

And if they did venture there, it would be in the most modest of concealing attire.

Dame Helen Mirren, however, is happy to flaunt her enviable curves and flat stomach in a bikini.

It seems hard to believe that this is the same actress whose portrayal of the Queen won her an Oscar.

Yet this was no retouched studio shot, with the only work to transform her toned body having been carried out during gruelling hours in the gym.

Dame Helen is holidaying in Puglia, on the southern tip of Italy, with her film director husband Taylor Hackford, 63.

I'm 55 and started working out again in Jan 08. Doesn't matter if you've had kids, gotta take care of yourself. It makes me feel great to be back in my skinny jeans and now I have common sense that I didn't have when I was a young woman. I am having an incredible time in this part of my life, and I haven't even gotten where I want to be yet. Go Helen!

Not altogether. She is in amazing shape at age sixty-three which can provide inspiration to others of similar age that great physical fitness is attainable. I would guess her secrets to such good health aren’t secrets at all: she exercises and eats right (and good genes).

Then, of course, there’s Jack LaLane, who in his seventies was swimming across San Francisco Bay towing a string of people in rowboats with the rope in his mouth. Try that sometime.

Your comment doesn't reflect my experience. My wife is the mother of 4 and she looks terrific. Got her weight back down after each delivery and continues to keep herself in shape...
And she's 67.
