On a conference call with reporters, John McCain surrogate Bud Day doesn't do much to endear his candidate to Muslims:

One of John McCain's fellow POW's in Vietnam defended the war in Iraq, saying, "The Muslims have said either we kneel or they're going to kill us.''

...

Colonel Bud Day added: "I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel, and John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel.''

Muslim leaders have complained that they have been vilified as terrorists since the Sept. 11 attacks.

A McCain campaign spokesman declined to disavow the comments.

Bud Day is best known for his work with the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth, attacking John Kerry in the 2004 election. He's now a member of McCain's Truth Squad. The McCain campaign brought Day out recently to criticize comments made by Wesley Clark about McCain's experience.

McCain has had trouble controlling his surrogates lately: while he says it's good that Obama is traveling to Iraq, people affiliated with his campaign won't stop attacking the trip.

Thus spake Bud Day: Islamic scholar, Swift Boat Veteran for Truth, and defender of the Homeland.

Also, does anyone remember the word "Homeland" from before 9/11?

Right, because all Muslims have a secret handbook that tells them to convert people by the sword, kinda like the one the Christians have. McCain and his cronies are frightened and living in the past.

The Muslims have the Koran. Interesting read. You are right about their intentions. Many say exactly the same thing here.

Dude stop fronting like you have EVER read a translation of a the Holy Qur'an cover to cover OR have any basis on which to understand things contextually.
I personally CHALLENGE you to pick it up and flip through it randomly 50 times, a HUDRED times and fix your eye on the first passage. I highly doubt you will come across even ONE passage talking about killing and hatred - rather you will find it is filled with admonitions to human being to remember God in all that they do and how to lead upright lives and kindness to their fellow men.

Az, I've been looking over your profile. Are you playing devil's advocate? You have a very interesting take on a lot of things. (Note... This is genuine interest. I'm often snarky and sarcastic with a lot of posters but not not with you right now. However I'm snarking at you a bit further down the page so don't feel left out!).

A few years ago Pat Robertson wanted a Constitutional Amendment stating that we are a "Christian" country. Ripping up the Constitutuion seems to be what radical Christianity is all about. If they ever completely take over.....what will be the difference between them and the Taliban?

May I answer that? According to the Taliban you are an infidel and can be killed for no reason. I hope that clears it up.

Still confused: (a) what does the Taliban have to do with Iraq; (b) how do a few thousand Taliban in Pakistan/Afghanistan represent millions of Muslims around the world; and (c) why are we in Iraq supposedly helping millions of Muslims - saving them from a secular tyrant?

Westboro Baptists say our soldiers are dying because of our immorality. Since you believe a few radicals speak for all Christians, then you must believe our soldiers are dying because of our immorality.

Republicans know that a majority of Americans are fat cowards. They also know that all they have to do is say "Boo" and they will be scared right back into line.

Actually Bud, you have it backwards. It is we, or at least our government, who tells Muslim countries to kneel or we'll kill you. Witness Iraq and soon to be Iran. We are pushing our brand of democracy and our Christianity around the world so that we can have unlimited access to thier oil.

Everone has access to their oil. Especially the commodities markets who set the prices. By the way, it is illegal to be a Christian in many of those countries. Just thought I would leave you with that point.

You're right everyone does have access to their oil. But we are the ones willing to kill for it.

First McCain jokes about the worse kind of violation to a woman's body, then his camp tells we should not believe gas is 4.50 a gallon and we are a nation of whiners, now this ANTI First Amendment guy. When did McCain re-write the the Free Exercise Clause of the 1st amendment? No wonder McCain finished dead last in his class.

But it's clear to me what the plan of attack is. Get a "surrogate" to say what you are thinking and if the heat gets too high, claim they don't speak for you or apologize to those who MIGHT be offended.

I agree. Wes Clark really blew it a week or so ago. The right wing freak machine really did him in. He has a column about it. He was victimized horribly. All of you should read it.

This conflict does have a religious component to it. How come on 9/11 almost no one in the muslim or arab world took to the streets and protested? Yet when some Danish newspaper prints some cartoons the whole muslim streets goes crazy. Or when a classroom in sudan names a teddy bear Mohammed, the whole country wants the teachers head on a platter.

Muslims everywhere were in shock like the REST OF THE WORLD. What in the hell were they supposed to take to the streets and protest? You sound ridiculous. People everywhere from Senegal to Indonesia were deeply offended that these attackers used and abused our faith to the gloabl detriment of everyone.
As far as the stupid teddy bear incident - most Muslims find it ridiculous and backwards. I am more offended by a terrorists name Mohammed than a cute teddy bear of the same name.

Practitioners of the "Noble" Lie, beware! The TRUTH is that you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time but you can't fool all the people all of the time.
Some of us are aware of what you are, what you are for, and why we should despise you.
That is why you should just dry up and fly away. There is another saying about fooling -- and it's not an advocacy of fooling around with us.
Building Seven and other misfitting pieces
make one wonder about the rest.
Misdirection is a fine old ploy, but
truth is ultimately unbeatable.
And it obviously ain't in you, "Noble" practitioners.

Black Widow Pilot. May I ask you if you really flew a blackwidow? The only blackwidow pilots I have known are older than Bud Day is. The black widow (P-61 designation) I think was last flown in the 50s.
