Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, star of MTV's "The Hills" reality show, sat down today's "Extra".

Montag, whose late stepbrother served 3 years in Iraq and Afghanistan (he recently died falling off a roof in Colorado), is planning a trip to perform for American troops stationed in the Middle East. Heidi says, "My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there."

Montag also talked about her budding friendship with presidential hopeful Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan, commenting, "She's very sweet. We have a lot in common." The pair were photographed last week dining together in Los Angeles.

But how will they get to Iraq? Spencer Pratt said, "I think Meghan McCain is helping organize Heidi and our Iraq trip. Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she's going to put that together for us."

Back in April John McCain called Montag a "talented actress" after she said she planned to vote for the Arizona senator.

Heidi and Spencer (fictional couple) on a fake reality show represents the worse in American culture. If McCain was smart he would quietly disassociate himself with these two.

Heidi and Spencer represent the antithesis of the selfless pursuit of any young man or woman choosing to serve in our nation's military.

Good. The troops will be able to see first hand who and what they're fighting and dying for.
With any luck they'll mutiny.

Well, she'll be a bit safer than most people over there. Breast implants have saved women from impalement by fish and from shrapnel:

Also, a serious brain injury would probably not be noticed in either Heidi or Spencer.

Reality TV stars intending to entertain troops living the reality. How ironic is that?

Isn't it illegal for John McCain to offer anything of value in exchange for a vote?

Isn't it illegal for Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt to accept anything of value in exchange for a vote?

Isn't a trip, paid for by the taxpayers, a "thing of value?"

Since Rice put a stop on any help going to Obama's visit, I want to know what "help" McCain is giving these two pitiful people and how much money will be spent doing it? I don't want any of my tax money sending Spencer over there. McCain doesn't know enough to know that these are the people kept on the show for ratings because they incite drama. No military money for these guys!

Off to the front. How inspiring.

If it hasn't already been mentioned, i like to suggest a haircut for Heidi.

If she's wounded in combat, it will make the medic's work easier.

And since clean water for our troops is apparently a "caviar item" (like health care at home), she'll find personal hygiene easier with shorter hair.
