Obama Mobbed By Crowd Of GIs In Baghdad (VIDEO)

Barack Obama met with a crowd of cheering troops and State Department workers in Baghdad Monday night.

"So I don't care whether you are a Sailor, a Soldier, an Airmen, or Marine. A National Guard, a Reservist, active duty, we just want to say thank you," Obama said.

"Back home, as I travel all across the country, every single day I meet your friends, your family members, your co-workers, and the main thing they want me to communicate is how proud they are of you," Obama continued. "They may disagree on politics. They may disagree on the issues. But the country is absolutely united in the excellence, the devotion, the dedication with which you have performed your duties, here.

One has to wonder if this video is why the State Department blocked their employees from attending B's speech in Berlin today, especially since foreign service workers are among the smiling faces in this video, and since they've had such dissention in the ranks in the department.

I think the video speaks for itself, no matter what the journalists actually said. The troops and the embassy staff look so happy that they have not been forgotten by the man who might be president. There's just no faking the joy on display.

Phil Graham, McCain's former economic advisor and campaign co-chair, said we were a nation of whiners. It's a bit ironic that the whiners have become the McCain campaign, the GOP and their supporters.

The Pubs and PUMAs just can't stand to see that, like the American public in general, a majority of the US military support Obama and are against the continued occupation of Iraq. Grasp those straws! Keep nibbling at the edges, if that's what makes you feel good. As a veteran who supports the troops and supports Obama, opposes the occupation in Iraq and is proud to call myself a liberal, you can't silence me by questioning my patriotism. I was diagnosed with a terminal condition back in 1999 and this year has been especially rough so far, but I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't give up the ghost until George W. Bush was out of office and this nation was set back on the track to righteousness and the rule of law. Funny how as I grow closer to my goals, in spite of my setbacks this year, I feel better and stronger than I have for the past seven years.

Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement. I don't normally discuss my situation with anyone other than the closest of friends and haven't posted anything about it because I consider it irrelevant to most situations and do not want to be seen as fishing for pity - that is not my intent - plus it makes people uncomfortable. I actually regret making the post, but (and I hate to admit this) Pubs like Ghost who arrogantly perpetuate the myth that liberals aren't patriotic and that the right wing speaks for all active duty military and veterans, push my buttons - you can probably tell from the choppy composition that I posted the comment in knee-jerk mode. I just get so tired of these people who post nothing but negativity and criticism repeatedly after each article that reports positive things about Obama, but then are oddly silent on articles which call attention to the fact that McSame, contrary to his claims that he was Bush's "biggest critic", was in fact Bush's biggest cheerleader up until 2007, when he decided to run for President. It makes me want to call them out on it.

Went traveling throught the Oregon And Washington last week. To pass the time, we counted political bumper stickers and kept a tally.

Surprisingly, there weren't many for any candidate.

This is how my unscientific poll went down:

Obama- 19 bumper stickers and yard signs

Ron Paul- 1 bumper sticker and 2 yard signs

McCain - 0

Interestingly, the gas guzzlers you would expect to have a MCain sticker afixed to the rear, bore only "Diebold '08" .

It's Obama's fault the soldiers mobbed him with a warm welcome full of elation. It's his fault that he is articulate, has the grace of an athlete, and thinks outside of the box, contrary to most of his critics, who are green from choking with envy. Obama has made politics fun, Americans confident, and he can walk and chew gum at the same time.
