What's Your Reaction?
Wexler

Florida Democrat Robert Wexler isn't pleased with the McCain campaign's decision to attack remarks made by Barack Obama during his visit today to Israel's Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem.

In a statement to the Huffington Post, Wexler called it "shameful" and "unconscionable" that the McCain campaign is "using Senator Obama's somber visit to Israel's Holocaust Museum Yad Vashem as a backdrop to score cheap political points instead of focusing on the security needs of the nation."

Wexler, who was one of Obama's most high-profile Jewish surrogates during the primary season, added that Obama's trip "is a time to strengthen America's historic relationship with our ally Israel and to renew our nation's commitment to Israel's right to self defense and security."

Earlier Wednesday, McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds contrasted Obama's invocation of the familiar cry "never again" with a past statement in which the Illinois Democrat suggested that United States could not deploy troops whenever and wherever genocide is taking place.

Wexler said the McCain spokesman's attack "smacks of desperation and I urge Senator McCain to denounce this unconscionable statement and join Senator Obama and Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Maliki in supporting a safe and secure redeployment of American troops from Iraq."

McBUSH IS SCARED! HE KNOWS THAT HIS VIEWS AND OPINIONS ARE IN THE MINORITY!

HE REALLY IS SCARED! EVERYDAY HE IS REALIZING MORE AND MORE THAT HE CAN'T BEAT OBAMA ON THE ISSUES! So he is going dirty. He doesn't have any other way of winning.

The question is will the American People Believe "THE BULL JIVE" that is coming out of the McBUSH campaign? And if they do, what does it say about the STATE OF AMERICA?

John McCain continues to demonstrate how desperate he and his campaign are to generate a news blip. McCain, with nothing of substance to say, resorts to the same tired morally and socially constipated rhetoric of the racist right wing. Anyone can see how pathetic the entire Republican political machine has become. But this is a new low.

McCain is acting like a fart in a hot skillet..."going to Louisianna on a oil rigger...no don't do that...they just had a spill and there's a horrible mess...what words did Obama say today that we can twist? He went and talked to the leaders on the ground? I was just kidding when I told him to do that....now he's got the same info I have and he RETAINS IT!!! Oh noooooooo! Oh, I wish I had his brain!"

McSame lacks the intelligence, skills and organization to be commander in chief of the USA...step aside and let Obama run you over :-)

Not only is it shameful, It shows how little respect that the republicans have for the victims of Holocaust and the state of Israel...

Anyone who visits the museum will be overwhelmed and share similar sentiments as Mr. Obama..it is human nature to mourn such a great loss of humanity.

What is wrong with the republicans? Don't they have a heart or a moral compass? Are they not human?

I think we're getting a little glimpse of that anger management problem.

my uncle used to work at the U.S. Capitol Building and he's been saying since McCain got the nomination that we were gonna start to see McCain's anger issues flare. He's still predicting a total anger meltdown during one of the debates

McCain is actually doing Obama a big favor. McCain's campaign has de-evolved into a pathetic recitation of right wing talking points. McCain's only strategy for victory, however, is "divide and conquer." By being such a pathetic blustering clown, McCain is uniting his opposition against him. Obama is running a campaign of "appeasement", if you will, and it's not his strongest suit. He's very likely to find himself looking back at a term or two in which he accomplished little or nothing. But as long as McCain continues to run such a pathetic campaign, at least Obama will win the general election.

McCain's attack was a cheap shot.

And the terrible part was one of McCain's aides attacked Obama for something he wrote in the guestbook at The Holocaust Museum.

I mean, attacking Obama for something he wrote IN THE GUESTBOOK!!! So, this is "The Hallmark" campaign now? Obama will come under attack for everything he wrote in his Senior Yearbook, greeting cards, postcards, etc. This is ridiculous.

This is simply desperation.

I have said over and over again, there is no such thing as honest journalism on the MSN. Cnn has become woefully incompenent. I Emailed CNN complaining about the disgusting coverage from Campbell Brown and Lou Dobbs. Even Anderson Cooper offers very little other than Tabloid these days. Also, since Obama became the Dem. Nominee, Candy Crowley is showing her fangs too.

While Bush and McCain are met with protesters and critics at every stop, the German public awaits Obama with open arms, relieved for the possibility to hear a man of substance and honor speak.

German papers and TV report an expected audience exceeding tens of thousands if not six digits for Obama's public address, and fellow members of the EU (France and England) complain that Obama hasn't slated longer visits to their capitals on his tour.

RIGHT ON!!! Finally, a hint of redemption for Bush's single-handed decimation of the US reputation around the globe. It speaks volumes to the openness and intelligence of the European community that they can move on, with hope and positive expectations, for the future of US foreign relations and domestic policy.

Now if only the American public would put their "thinking caps" on and get behind progress. Time to EVOLVE and join the rest of the civilized world.

It will be interesting to see if the U.S. electorate rides that wave or shuns it. Folks at home can get a bit "tetchy" and crotchety. Obama must keep the young voters as enthused as their European sisters and brothers. Else he's in trouble. I'm seeing a bit of waning what with Obama's many moves to the middle. This, which should have been a very simple victory, is developing some interesting facets.

Let's change the Holocaust (capital H) to holocaust (lower case h). There's too much genocide going on in this world to confine the term to the mass murder of Jews in Germany. What about the mass murder of black men, women and children in Darfur by the Saudi Arabian backed janjaweed? What about Sunni/Shia violence (and the American occupation) decimating neighborhoods and families in Iraq (1.2 million Iraqis dead since the US invasion according the British medical journal The Lancet?). Thousands upon thousands of Croats, Serbs, and Muslims died in Bosnia, but at least the US stepped in to help stop the murder.. What about the lives lost in the sex and slave trafficking trade? What about the mass murder of 1 million Armenians by Turks in the early 20th century.

Thousands upon thousands of Croats, Serbs, and Muslims died in Bosnia, but at least the US stepped in to help stop the murder.

Unfortunately, holocausts are color blind, gender blind, and observe no borders, only politics.

Two important ones you missed. Bush is just continuing to try to catch up with Clintons murder of, and the numbers are so huge that they'll only 'estimate' that at least 1.5 million (but probably more). And his Secretary of State pronounced the fact that the victims were all civilians was a great success so I gotta assume Bill agreed. And speaking of U.S. "Great Presidents" how many even know of let alone care about "honest Abe" Lincolns micromanaged genocide of the Plains Indians? We gotta stop killing before we put ourselves on a pedestal and try to control others behaviour when we just can't stop doing the same thing. "Never Again" really means, never again will a U.S. politician let morality get in the way of campaign money or important voting blocs. Obama's disappointing me so frequently now, before he's even nominated, that I'm already checking out all the others that took the time, money and heart to get on the ballot. You'll never hear about any of them here. Let's stop with the "lesser of two evils" mantra and 'waste' your vote on someone qualified. It sickens me that the old saw, "anyone capable of getting elected President isn't fit to hold the job" is so very true. Great speaker, ran a fantastic campaign against strong odds, but that's hardly qualification to hold the office of President, and he's proving that more and more, and he isn't even been nominated yet!

Actually the slaughtering in Bosnia started after the bombing, which was a predicted outcome by military planners. Its a common chronological error repeated in US media. Prior to the campaign, there were 2000 deaths from both sides, though some estimates put the US backed KLA at committing 1500 VS 500 from the Serbs. I think the bombing was more of an exercise US military strength then stopping genocide.

Agreed. People should look more into that recent history before assuming what the press tells them is the truth. A reasonable and readable start would be Parenti's "To Kill a Nation".
