Jon Stewart Jokes About Bob Novak's Hit-And-Run: "That's The Novak I Know And Despise!"

Wednesday night on "The Daily Show," Jon Stewart took some time to joke about Bob Novak's hit-and-run from earlier in the day (where he struck a pedestrian with his black corvette and kept driving until a bicyclist stopped him).

While Stewart doesn't usually bring up Novak, as his show airs at 11PM and he doesn't want to upset his viewers' ability to fall asleep, he mentioned the pedestrian incident because he said it "perfectly encapsulates the true essence of the man."

"Yes, Robert Novak knew he did something wrong and he just didn't give a shit," Stewart said. "That's the Novak I know and despise!"

If Novak had been given the sentence he deserved after the Valerie Plame mess, he wouldn't have been IN his black convertible. He would have been in jail where he belongs.

The witness said the pedestrian was like a hood ornament on the front of novaks car and yet Novak says he never realized he hit the guy? It seems kind of strange when you think about it as he must drive looking out of the mirrors and not the front windsheild to have missed the guy on the hood thing. Also the bump. What about the bump when you hit someone with you car? I have never actually hit someone with my car but I watch movies and tv and there is a bump and you notice it when someone bounces off the car. Did Novak miss the bump off the body? At least he didn't hit them and run over them as he would have just thought he had hit the curb then as he would have still missed somehow the bump of the body! Did they do a drug screen on Novak?

He somehow missed a alcohol breath test, normally given to people in such cases, certainly if they are black... it's washington after all.

Two evenings ago I had dinner with someone who says they've worked with Novak and that he may be an ass on-air but he's very polite and congenial in person. Well, I think hit and run on a pedestrian proves who he _really_ is.

He should be thrown in jail. Isn't hit and run a CRIMINAL offense?

Novak was issued a $50 ticket, for "failing to yield"--much less than a speeding ticket or running a red light. We pay 3x more than that if we are late registering or inspecting our cars. He was not cited for hitting the guy or leaving the scene of the accident. He was stopped just around the corner from the incident. The "vigilante biker" Jon Stewart thinks we need more of is an acquaintance of mine--his name is David Bono, and everyone who knows him is pretty damned proud of what he did.
