Sarkozy

Politico:

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is offering Obama a warm welcome on the day of their meeting, in an interview with the conservative daily Le Figaro.

"Obama? He's my pal," the president told Le Figaro. "Unlike my diplomatic advisers, I never believed in Hillary Clinton's chances. I always said that Obama would be nominated."

Sarkozy added that an Obama victory "would validate" his strategy of reconciliation with the United States. His embrace of the United States has made him American conservatives' favorite Continental politician, but he doesn't seem to be reciprocating.

Does a much publicized endorsement by a French leader who is very unpopular in France, and likely not very popular with most common Americans help or hurt Obama in the media created perceptions of voters? Let's not forget that Sarkozy's election led to three days of rioting in France, where the rioters called him Sarko-Fascist.

Rethuglicans must be sick to their stomach with all the love the foreign leaders have bestowed upon O. In this country O is denigrated, but abroad he's a hero. How odd.

Not odd if you consider who owns the press.

The old buffoon is buoyed up by those hor's

and O is often maligned. The GOP's adage

of liberal press and activist judges is BS!!!

It has long been my impression that this man, Sarkozy, is in need of psychiatric help.

He certainly does not act as if he has a full deck.

If this pronouncement by snarkozy is true, we should be very worried.

My French to English dictionary suggests "buddy" might be a better translation of "copain". Friend or pal are other possibilities.

Yeah Buddy or Pal are both acceptable translations, Chum would be another.

I think they may have mis-translated. Pal? I wonder if it should be pick or choice?

With Frenchmen like Sarkozy, it is little wonder that so many French citizens collaborated with the Nazis.

What a pathetic low blow. I could go on a rant here and remind you of Henry Ford's blatant anti-semitism, his Nazi decorations, IBM's collaboration (those inked numbers on concentration camp victims were IBM codes), Joe Kennedy's admiration for Hitler, Prescott Bush's involvement in pro-german companies during World War II, the fact the shoulder patch of the US Army’s 45th Infantry division was the Swastika ... but what would be the point, if you wish to carry on you vile French Bashing, who's to stop you?

Huh?? 45th Infantry Division shoulder patch was a swastika? Go drink another six-pack. Obviously, your usual 12-pack didn't knock you out this time...

Oh no the GOP will spin this as Barack Le French Fries Obama looking down his Haughty Nose at us low class whites, who also find themselves superior because they go out and pull their own potatoes out of the ground.

Funny as heck though.... EVERY world leader is embracing Obama before hes even elected, and consequently pretty much Slamming the Door on McCain's old Bush-like Foot.

US interests will not be served in any way, shape or form, if McDoubletalkexpressCain gets elected.

Assuming that O gets the nom., at the very least it is nice to have a Presidential relationship with France. It can only help.

You really want to go there? Look into their actions with the oil for food program. They could have been a big help in the sanction phase, but Cirac took care of number one. Careful before you worship France. The best thing that happened to them is their new president.

He's like a rabbit. Hopping from hole to hole...poking out the head when the coast is clear.

How did the French elect a non-Frenchman who doesn't have a clue about the French?

Please get a clue. He is as French as you are American. If last names are important as opposed to place of birth, then you'd have to have a name like Sitting Bull or Whitehorse to be American...and even those names are translations.
