Hollywood Reporter:

HBO has opted not to renew racy drama "Tell Me You Love Me" for a second season.

The decision was made almost a year after the sexually explicit series premiered on the pay cable channel.

"Given the considerable amount of time that has passed and despite the best efforts of everyone involved, we were unable to find the direction of the show for the second season," "Tell Me You Love Me" creator/executive producer Cynthia Mort said in a statement. "There are so many other stories to tell and many other ways to tell them. I look forward to doing that with HBO in the future."

"Tell Me You Love Me," a look at marriage through the stories of couples in therapy, drew a lot of attention with its sexually graphic content.

I am hardly an Evangelical, but I found this show to be one of the worst and most embarrassing shows I have ever witnessed. I DO NOT want to see one of my favorite male actors masturbate his member on national TV, nor do I want to hear people talk about their specific sexual "issues".

We all have sex and some of us like it more than others, but sex is one of the most enjoyed activities that we humans have in our common lives. Long live sex, just don't show it to me in such specific terms!.

Oh well,

Perhaps HBO has another show about death they can replace it with.

Sex = bad.

Violence = good.

Everything in reverse.

Earlier this year I dropped HBO from my cable service. I had a major price raise from going to digital service and needed to cover most of that increase. I was rarely watching HBO (especially after the end of The Sopranos), I don't like almost all movies made in recent years due to the lack of quality or are mostly aimed toward younger persons and I had problems with paying for some of their own progams with their high rates of adult sexual content as well foul language. Maybe dropping this show is a sign that maybe some common sense from the subscribers is getting through.

Agreed. Loved Deadwood, Six Feet Under along with the Sopranos. The newer shows at HBO to replace them have not been too good. In fact, their entire programming has declined in the last few years.
I find myself watching showtime more these days.

Yes Showtime is kicking their butt. WEEDS, DEXTER, BULLSH*T, DIARY OF A CALL GIRL etc etc. - more interesting and better shows!

If I want graphic sex I can either go to my husband or rent porn... And sorry, but with the cost of everything, free is better...

Agreed. The show had a decent buzz to it. My guess is that they were attacked by the evangelicals about the content. They caved.

"Graphic Sex Show?"

What depth!

Why can't one of these channels do all independent art films from around the world? There are so many creative, interesting new film makers all over the globe, and instead we get shown the most inane, trite, boring bunch of mishmash imaginable. A thousand channels and still nothing good on. I watch C-Span more than anything. Or comedy.

Sundance and IFC try to showcase independent and international films. IFC is hit and miss, but Sundance is fairly consistent.

I stopped watching HBO (except for Bill Maher) when they cancelled Deadwood. Any organization making a decision that f'n stupid is too dumb to survive.

Screw you HBO.

I agree. Although I heard it was Milch who opted out of his contract.

This is good news, although I really hadn't imagined this show would be 'renewed'. .

Tell Me You Love Me used sex for sex's sake and not as an important part of the story. The sex was not sexy, just pornography. The characters, on the whole, were not attractive -- who would want to identify with them? The only sex scene worth watching was the one at the very end in which the couple who does not have sex finally gets mad at each other (finally!) and goes to bed and has self-sex while on top of each other. This took care of both of their hang-ups about masturbation and also got them connected. Very good piece and good finale. As a whole, though, this show wasn't worth the time and was a downer to watch.

HBO is turning into GARBAGGE TV. Do not fall in love with any of their shows because THEY CANCELL EVERYTHING! Where is "DEADWOOD", "ROME", "CARNIVALE", "MIND OF A MARRIED" MAN, "SOPRANOS", "THE WIRE"..., AND NOW "TELL ME YOU LOVE ME"?
They cancelled most of those shows without completing them...WITHOUT FINISHING THE STORIES!

I am into Showtime now. SHOWTIME IS THE TRUTH!

Rome was really good (mostly) but it lasted long enough. It ended well. I don't think I needed to see any more of that.

This was an absolutely horrible show. I almost canceled HBO because of it.
Mean, selfish and unlikable characters arguing in the bedroom and then sex therapy scenes made for completely unwatchable show. This show made sex boring and icky.
HBO should be embarrassed for making it in the first place.

Sex is hilarious and a great source of joke mateiral The sex scenes in this (now cancelled) show were a hoot!

HBO keeps adding more boxing and extreme fighting! I guess a violent American public would like to also see a live gun duel at 20 paces or a gladitorial slaughter like in those old movies----like "Spartacus"! can't understand why they don't have Pay-Per View of state killings of criminals???

America wants MORE Generation Kill!!! Can't wait for the Abu Grahib episode! Amazing this show was cancelled-but CALIFORNICATION is back!!! Then again, the psychological analysis of "Tell Me You Love ME" each week by Jane Alexander was too heady for the moronic stooges who make up most of the American tv audience!! Is it any wonder that the WWE-Monday Night Raw wrestling extravaganza is the number one -rated tv show on cable tv-for the last 6 years!!! No wonder the GOP wins elections!!!
