Huh! The two most banal people in the world ask Bono Banal to be the Godfather of their off-spring? Why not?

Just curious. But what visa allows them to spend more than 3 months in France? Is it the "mega superstar" visa?

WOW! That's so great!
And maybe they'll all move to the Netherlands -- to avoid paying taxes, of course --
AND STAY THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't avoid US taxes by living abroad mate -- unless you never come back.

Mate,

Mr. Hewson and the other lads in U2 (aka The Elevation Corporation) avail of the artists' exemption in Ireland personally and have their corporation based in Holland so they effectively pay less than 10pc of their earnings in taxes whilst also lecturing the rest of us about global responsibility.

Hypocrisy? Thy name is U2!

i don't know if my family is different but we didn't have "Godparents". We had aunts, uncles, grandparents... family members to take care of us should something happen to mom and dad.

Is this Godparenting an everyday thing?
Or is it something the rich folk do just to make each other feel important?

Just wandering?

It's originally a Catholic thing.
Many intelligent people who plan for the unexpected, ask someone to raise their children for them if they should die before the child reaches adulthood.
It's not about being "rich" or wanting to "make each other feel important". It's about loving your children enough to plan for their future and being smart enough to know that you might die unexpectedly.
