In this May 15, 2008 file photo, American actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrive for the premiere of the film "Kung Fu Panda," during the 61st International film festival in Cannes, southern France. People magazine has scored the U.S. rights to exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins, a representative for the magazine told The Associated Press on Friday. NEW YORK — Exclusive photos of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's newborn twins fetched $14 million, a person involved in the negotiations told The Associated Press, giving People magazine and a British tabloid joint rights to publish the most expensive celebrity pictures ever sold.

The person asked not to be named because he was not authorized to release the figure. People will feature twin babies Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in an issue to hit newsstands Monday, spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said Friday.

The money _ more than double the $6 million People paid for Jennifer Lopez' twins on a March cover, according to Forbes _ will go to a foundation created by Pitt and Jolie that largely focuses on helping children around the world.

It's the second time the celebrity weekly won the North American rights to the couple's first-look baby pictures, and the third time they've worked with the two magazines in exchange for a hefty donation to charity.

"We're thrilled to be able to feature these pictures in People," managing editor Larry Hackett said in a statement.

People will split the bill with London-based Hello! magazine, which has worldwide rights; particulars of the division were not disclosed. People.com will unveil the first photo online Sunday evening.

Even before the babies were born July 12 in Nice, France, the speculation began over which celeb mag would come out on top of an inevitable bidding war. The couple ultimately chose to go a familiar route with its joint deal between People and Hello!, with Getty Images as the photographer and go-between.

People ponied up a reported $4 million donation for the U.S. rights to the first shots of their daughter Shiloh, now 2 years old, while Hello! obtained the British rights. And last year, the couple sold intimate shots of their son Pax, then 3 years old, to Hello! and People.

Getty Images, which was involved in the Shiloh deal, also took part this time around. In a statement, Getty co-founder and CEO Jonathan Klein said his company was "delighted that all proceeds from these stunning images will once again be donated entirely to charity."

When People the published six photos of Pitt, Jolie and baby Shiloh in June 2006, the issue moved 2.2 million copies, its biggest seller at the time going back to its 4 million-selling 9/11 special, Media Week reported at the time.

Jolie, 33, and Pitt, 44, established their foundation that year. They donated $1 million in June to The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict to help children affected by the war in Iraq. Last year, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation gave more than $300,000 to support the International Rescue Committee's relief program for Darfur refugees.

So many bitter, jealous people here. I am disgusted by the comments. I wish this family the best that life has to offer. They deserve all the happiness in the world. I wish people would get off their self-righteous high horse and stop acting like the judge and jury. God appears to be smiling on them, and that's all that matters.

Either be happy for them, or leave them alone. You all sound like a bunch of nasty, bitter old maids.
09:27 AM on 08/04/2008
Oh, and happy, happy birthday to O. He too deserves the best.
10:56 AM on 08/04/2008
Okay, why is it when someone says that they don't like Brangelina, someone has to immediately jump on the "you're just jealous haters" bandwagon? Why can't someone state their opinion? You want to worship them, fine. But don't start calling names and getting nasty to others that don't.
07:28 AM on 08/04/2008
Personally, I don't care what a celebrity's baby looks like. What I do have to wonder about though, is why so many people worship Brad and Angelina so. They are not the second coming of Christ, nor are their offspring. So why so much adulation over a couple of people and their kids? They're people, for crying out loud! So they give to charity. So do many others that don't feel they have to post a press conference about it. I just don't get it. Don't we have more important things to think about that what Brangelina's kids look like?
07:16 PM on 08/03/2008
For a couple that's constantly bragging about how much they give to charity, they really haven't haven't given all that much. Warren Buffet's given over $40 BILLION. Bill Gates has given over $20 BILLION. Oprah's given over $300 million. Even George Lucas has given over $200 million. Business Week keeps track of the most generous people in America & I have yet to see these two make the list:

http://bwnt.businessweek.com/philanthropy/06/index.asp

I have no problem with them bragging about all their charity work, but if they want the attention, they need to play in the big leagues. Give big or go home. And I thought they said they were going to move to New Orleans. I guess life in France is more appealing.
11:52 PM on 08/03/2008
They aren't bragging about anything. AJ and Brad never had billions to give. Warren Buffet gave $40 billion -- not at one time but over a staggered period of time. Oprah makes over $250 million A YEAR. The last time either of them said anything about donations was almost a year ago when Brad confirmed that his $5 million dollar seed money for makeitrightnola.org was coming from The Jolie-Pitt Foundation. That was at The Clinton Global Initiative in 8/07. Once a year is "constant" to you?

I promised myself not to feed the Brangelina-pig-wrestling fests anymore, but down below, Paul Newman was dragged through the mud a little and now I feel obligated to comment.

We know about Paul Newman's humanitarian aspect because he produces products that have HIS face on the labels - - not his children's faces (except for his adult-aged daughter who started an organic line of food products)... not photographs of his children... but food products that we can choose to buy on their own merit or not. Starting out with a very simple (and delicious) Italian dressing, he expanded... and he funded a camp, in this country, for sick children. No offense, but it doesn't get any better than that. Kudos to him for being a humanitarian by producing a quality product. Kudos to him for producing something that doesn't involve feeding his ego constantly. Kudos to him for consistently and quietly expanding his line.

Pitt and Jolie can rationalize their decision to sell their children's pictures all they want - - as can the numerous pro-Pitt/Jolie posters here. All I know is that my life is not my child's life and IF I were them, I would be doing all I could to let the children live as normal a life as possible.

When all is said and done it is simple: Your children are either a commodity or they aren't.
11:35 PM on 08/03/2008
Angelina and Brad didn't make their children public figures or "commodities". The public did -- you and me. Any child born to or adopted by them will be so, from day one. Their home has been invaded four times in the last 3 months -- 3 of those in the first 2 weeks after the babies came home, and that's is just the number of incidents we know of. Brad says they get threatening letters. Why should some deranged cammie wearing paparazzi with a 5 foot lens get millions for filming them?

If you haven't walked a mile in their shoes how can you judge? You haters want them to live on Mars, behind 30 foot walls. Why not dial the hate down a few notches -- after all it is Sunday.

I also promised that I wouldn't join the Brangelina goat f**k, but these worshippers are so amusing I can't help myself. Amen to everything you said about Paul Newman. He is one great guy as is his entire family.
01:39 AM on 08/03/2008
Jolie handled the best possible way. By releasing photos it cuts out some of the demand , the value, of paparazzi to get the photos.
Why do you think they picked France? Because it has very strict laws against photographing children without parental permission.
The mult-million fee will go to charity.
What have you done to help others? How many pennies has your life generated to help others? How many millions have you managed to donate?
Angelina is courageous. She forced herself as she was filled with self-doubt about her lack of worthiness and lack of education, to try and use her celebrity to do some good in the world for children that genuinely broke her heart. She didn't let her past mistakes , her lack of expertise, that people would make fun of her, get in the way.
Such courage is a rare thing and everyone should hope for the best for their family. Twins can't be easy.
11:51 PM on 08/02/2008
Brad & Angelina know full well that the press will hound them to get the first "exclusive" photos of the kids, and the greedy tabloids won't stop salivating until they are "fed". I think they are extremely smart to take advantage of 10 million and put it to good use. I'm sure their kids will appreciate it later, knowing what good was done with the money. And the Jolie-Pitt foundation is set up so they can direct their funds to the charities of their choice - they don't benefit directly - except to get the satisfaction that comes with generosity and giving. I admire this couple for their charitable work and think they are one of the most intelligent couples in Hollywood.
04:26 PM on 08/02/2008
Pathetic that the "brangelina" couple makes more money off their kids, than their combined movie careers.
06:35 PM on 08/02/2008
Uh, I don't know if you actually read the piece but it states clearly that "brangelina" have set up a charity for the money. They will not be benefiting from it personally.
08:54 PM on 08/02/2008
course they will..the charity is in their names...Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

Too bad these children were auction off and their are not even a month old. Such a shame. I agree it doesn't say much for their parents even if the money does goes for so called good cause. This hype is terrible and doesn't say much for our culture. Me I could care less to see these pics. Hell they are babies and babies all look alike. How do I know, I'av had two of my own. I like what Sara Jessica Parker did, she called all the press together, then just step outside with her child, then no one got the one and only picture of her child and no one made a buck. Good good lady and such class.

All in the name of charity. Lots of celebrities fund charities but they don't always seek the publicity for doing so. Angelina and Brad are all about staying in the headlines.
03:24 PM on 08/02/2008
And you follow their every move.
06:37 PM on 08/02/2008
What's the point of being negative for the sake of bing negative? The whole cult of celebrity is ridiculous, at least Angelina and Brad are putting their celebrity to good use.
12:04 PM on 08/02/2008
This whole things says very poor things about our culture. What are these kids, items in a zoo?

Bangelina has its own culture. Didn't you hear? LOL!
03:26 PM on 08/02/2008
Did you get rejected from the Fan Club? Is that why you're so bitter?
04:25 PM on 08/02/2008
olivia, y does it say poor things?
Instead of pocketing the money like tori spelling, nicole richie, xtina ag, jess alba, gwen stefani, bridget moynahan, jamie lynn spears, matthew mcConaughey
they're donating $14mil to charity.

This $14 mill plus the $4.1mill for Shiloh plus the $2million for Pax is $20.1mill for charity. This is in additon to the millions they given to Lousiana, Iraq, Cambodia, Namibia, & elsewhere.

That [$20.1 millon] is alot of money & will help do wonders for children.
That say great things about the culture!
12:04 PM on 08/02/2008
I really can't stomach this woman. Her last 3 pictures were not even acting. Just stone face profile posing like, " look at me, ain't I beautiful ". Yes, you are. And so is Catherine Zeta-Jones and Penelope Cruz., who don't display a fraction of the conceit you do.
10:38 AM on 08/02/2008
This is a couple to be admired for the work that they do. The choice that they have made allows
them as parents to control the release of the "first" photos, of the twins and use of the proceeds
for charitable causes. Brad and Angelina have come together with their children to form a
beautiful family.

I'm trying to do a little math here: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's movies mostly flop at the box office these days. They buy million dollar properties around the world. And you say their baby pic money is going to charity? Whose may I ask?
01:44 PM on 08/02/2008
Pitt is building houses in New Orleans for those made homeless after the levees failed.

chk your facts. Their movies make lots of $.
AJ'S KungFu Panda & Wanted both were#1.
Brad's made millions with those Ocean movies, with Fight Club,
Together they were in MrMrs Smith which wasnt a flop.

Only "mighty heart" & "jesse james" didnt make millions but both were reviewed well by fans & critics.

Im sure they have reat financial advisors & they have stock & property in all the right places.

I stand corrected, lil kunta. I suppose it's only their efforts at serious movies that flop big. The frippery sells like hot cakes. I'm just not a fan to those two.
08:56 PM on 08/01/2008
I would feel more " Calm" if these two Media Whores stayed in France and were NEVER Seen again.

Lots of us give to Charities,We just do not have Access or want to call Media. Exposing your kids on Magazine Covers ect. and then whining about Your Privacy and the Paps. chasing you and your kids for pics. is F*cked up.

Sorry brangeloonies but I see No need to worship or defend these two.

Lets face it, it's mainly women that are into this junk. I don't get it but women of all ages eat this stuff up. To me it makes my uncomfortable for these celebs to exploit their own off spring. And that's exactly what it is.

And if you are going to give all the money away, which is suspect, why don't they give back to their own country that gave them all this success? All know there is a lot of poor folk in this country too. And it's not like times are great right now.

They DO give back to this country. Check out NOLA.

You are an idiot!

Why not do some research before you go online?
04:57 AM on 08/02/2008
Why should i? I hear about them every f'ing day. You want to treat them like royalty. I know she's not Mother Theresa so many people want to make her out to be. And also I'm no kiss ass either, which you happen to be voter.

I Jolie hadn't been been the daughter of Johnny Voit then she'd be a waitress in LA. And look how she treats the man who got her into the business. She won't have anything to do w/ him. And she's also has weight issues. Men don't find that 10 yr old boy look sexy.

And they will give the majority of the money, of which they don't keep of course to other counties than the one who made them what they are today. Keep sucking up to the fantasy of them.
