McCain To Clinton Backer Who Endorsed Him: "Perhaps Your Reward Will Be In Heaven"

John McCain has criticized Barack Obama supposed presumptuousness frequently. Last week, a McCain ad suggested Obama is styling himself the new Messiah. But who's really playing the God card? First McCain's campaign came out with this poster. Now he's telling Clinton voters that support him over Obama that they'll be thanked in the afterlife:

Also Thursday, McCain called Debra Bartoshevich, the Racine County resident who lost her delegate seat at the Democratic National Convention for endorsing McCain instead of Obama, a "person of great courage" for endorsing him.

"Perhaps your reward will be in heaven - not here on Earth," McCain told Bartoshevich as he addressed the Civic Centre crowd.

No word yet from God on what the prize will be.

The way I look at it, unless God intervenes, I am afraid we are in for more suffering. Publicans brought flyers to my church in 2004. My pastor said that before long liberals would be attending conservative churches. I guess liberals should just accept the fact that God doesn't love them, so they just better high-tail it to the alter to get transformed into the image of a conservative. We have a President right now who believes he is on a mission from God. As a consequence of this belief, our current President has invaded and occupied a Country and has our soldiers nation-building.

Both men from Illinois (from our past, and from our present) understand that we can seek God's guidance through prayer, but believing He has given us a mission, or uniquely is blessing our endeavor (at the expense of others) is arrogant and dangerous . I can think of little more arrogant than telling someone their reward will be in Heaven for supporting you as Senator McCain has done here. Senator McCain, please take some time and read at least these words of President Lincoln and try for some humility in your campaign.
