Oil Execs Gave McCain Huge Donations Right After Offshore Drilling Reversal

Ten senior Hess Corporation executives and/or members of the Hess family each gave $28,500 to the joint RNC-McCain fundraising committee, just days after McCain reversed himself to favor offshore drilling, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

Nine of these contributions, seven from Hess executives and two from members of the Hess family, came on the same day, June 24th, the records show. The total collected in the wake of McCain's reversal for the fund, called McCain Victory 2008, from Hess execs and family is $285,000.

Offshore drilling will have no effect on prices. oil from the US will be sold to China.
Drilling offshore will help big oil.
If Obama is elected we will actually solve the energy problem.

I don't understand it. If you're as rich as he is and married to a woman as rich as Cindy, why accept lobbyist and corporate money at all? Think about it, you don't need it and you can claim you're not in the pocket of anyone (especially Big Oil). Of course, in McCain's case, at least, it wouldn't be true--he'd still be owned by the corporate overlords.

These high oil prices look like extortion to get what the oil companies have been wanting for a long time. And the Repubs are always there to give it to them.
McCain's 'experienced' alright. He's a Washington insider. He's been there for decades. He knows who the lobbyists are , and where to go for the checks. He knows what they want, and how much they're willing to pay for it. He's knows when to let go of his noble stance when the GOP leadership calls him to heel. He's experienced at how to support no-bid cost-plus contracts for ALL the GOP campaign supports. And he's VERY experienced at bamboozling the public with pleasing words--while he feathers other peoples' nest at public expense.

Of course they did. They've been wanting to grab up all that oil-rich coastline for decades. And Oldy McMoldy is just the man to give it to them. In return, they will pollute our beautiful coasts destroying several major sources of income - the fishing industry and the tourism industry, among others.

And what Oldy McMoldy isn't saying is that the oil co.s have so many existing jobs in hand, that they cannot even begin planning oil extraction for nearly a decade. How is this going to help our gasoline price problem? It isn't. Simple as that.

What's more, we do not have a single deepsea drilling rig available till 2012 or later. Not a built one nor one in the process of being built. And, we don't have enough refinery capacity to handle existing stock. So the oil companies are pulling the biggest consumer scam and Oldy McMoldy will let them get away with it. Vote O-man!

With expanded access to the OCS, they will highgrade their portfolio and tow thoses suckers on to the better prospects and drill. Yes it does take time but we do have the rigs however we could use more of them and a predictable energy policy would encourage more rigs staying in the US.

I live on a little street named Ocean Avenue. Before I see my neighbor the ocean defaced, why not finish drilling in the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley. There is plenty of natural energy that could be harnessed in Yellowstone as well as other spots in the land-locked states that tend to vote red.
