Obama Low Wage Workers

The Washington Post reports that Obama holds a 2 to 1 lead among low-wage workers in a new national poll:

Democratic Sen. Barack Obama holds a 2 to 1 edge over Republican Sen. John McCain among the nation's low-wage workers, but many are unconvinced that either presidential candidate would be better than the other at fixing the ailing economy or improving the health-care system, according to a new national poll.

Obama's advantage is attributable largely to overwhelming support from two traditional Democratic constituencies: African Americans and Hispanics. But even among white workers -- a group of voters that has been targeted by both parties as a key to victory in November -- Obama leads McCain by 10 percentage points, 47 percent to 37 percent, and has the advantage as the more empathetic candidate.

Still, one in six of the white workers polled remains uncommitted to either candidate. And a majority of those polled, both white and minority, are ambivalent about the impact of the election, saying that no matter who wins, their personal finances are unlikely to change.

The economic slump has gotten so bad that even the rich are feeling your pain — and contributing to it.

I lied to the pollsters again today. Told them McCainus can count on my* vote.

*White, Chicano-sounding surname, Leftist, baby-boomer, white collar, black wife & kids, combat veteran, secular, pro-choice, pro-death penalty, flag-waving, sh!+-kickin', Dem-voting socialist..

Stereotypical voter.

If that is REALLY so - then WHERE does this actual 44:44 tie between BO and McC springs from?

There MUST BE a logical knack in one of these polls. Yet: Which one is correct, and which one is flawed?

It really doesn't take much effort to research this yourself. I suggest you google "gallup"
Their daily presidential poll is a rolling three day average.
There are normal fluctuations throughout the "season"
What is consistant, is that Obama has come out ahead in the polls consistenctly.
To quote Gallup"The three percentage point advantage for Obama matches the average since early June, when Obama clinched the number of delegates needed to head to the Democratic convention as the presumptive presidential nominee. Since then, Obama has never trailed McCain among registered voters, though McCain has tied Obama five times during this span, including Gallup Poll Daily tracking reports for last Friday and Saturday"

So...I would say there is no flaw. There is margin of error. There are trends. But no glaring flaw just becaue you saw a poll where they were even.

The question is will they vote? They seem smart enough to know that economically neither candidate is going to do much for them.

If you look at Obama's energy policy you will see that linked to making super-efficient cars and plug-in cars is the further requirement that they be MADE IN AMERICA!

But you were smart enough to look into this stuff already I'm sure...

I think we will all need to take less antacids if we just accept that Obama is never going to get a fair shot in the media and instead of ruminating over how unfair they are to him, we should be figuring out how each of us individually (besides contributing) can make a difference - i.e, by getting people registered to vote and engineering ways to get people to the polls on election night. Voter turnout is going to be the key to this election.

Seems like O isn't having as much trouble reaching those working Americans, hard-working Americans, White Americans as we've been told.

So since there are far more poor people in this country than rich people, should we all be relieved?

What everyone needs to remember during all of this is:
1. shrubie has had almost 8 years to dig this hole we find ourselves in now.
2. fixing the damage is NOT going to happen overnight, it is going to take sometime and not all of it is going to make people happy. Many will complain, point fingers and say 'see' this is what we were trying to tell you....
We have just got to believe that no matter what, Obama will find a way to make it all work but we are going to have to help him because he can not do it by himself.

Get this. Just watched for a few minutes Andrea Mitchell. She has someone on from Washington Post and she brings up fact that Barack is a little ahead in the polling of white working class vote...10% ahead!! The WaPo guy says something like Well, they both have problems in this area but McCain has a little bit more. This was in passing and then dropped. DROPPED.

Can you imagine, IMAGINE, if Barack was behind 10 points in this poll? It would be wall to wall news. Something he can't seem to overcome. My God, this is HUGE news. HUGE. And they act like it's nothing. There is something very sick going on with the MSM. If the polling data were reversed, how would it have been handled. All the MSNBC shows would be covering it tonight. Nothing but that. Even if poll showed some problems still remain...10% ahead. Ideas on how we stop this media slant??? It's not the first time, they have buried good news in polling for Barack.

Your alternative choice. Continue policies that lead to trillion dollar war. 500 billion dollar deficit. Even more deregulation on of lenders, insurance companies, and failed international policies. Want to see the McBush administration in action:

Why do I get the filling that if these "working class whites" numbers where in favor of John McCain the would be appear bold face at the top of the homepage. Here on CNN on CNN.com. USAToday. This whole election coverage has been a farce.

I refuse to watch these impotent retards on the news any more. I will watch Countdown only and local news. Although Huffpo has fallen into the same trap as MSM more than ever.

Welcome to the light!!!

I stopped watching cable news 6 years ago and have never missed it. In fact, I get much better news online and I can triple check the sources if I like (and I often do).

I would hope so, he is promising handouts and wage hikes which many of them don't understand ends up causing more inflation and their buying power down.

I have yet to see wages go up with up with the Republicans in charge, nor have I seen the cost of living go down under the Republicans, However, the Standard of Living has gone way down. I'll give the Republicans that. Oh Boy the Republican gave us the first generation of Americans to be less well off than their parents. Yep, definitely a major Conservative Republican accomplishment!

Don't count out WV just yet. Democratic registrations are up here as well, and we aren't as "red" as we've appeared in the news or last 2 elections. WV typically votes democratic in Senate and House races and WV went for Clinton twice.
