Did McCain Plagiarize His Georgia Speech From Wikipedia?

A Wikipedia editor notices some similarities between Sen. John McCain's speech today on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia article on the country Georgia. They appear similar enough that most people would consider parts of McCain's speech to be derived from Wikipedia.

Honestly, I think McCain is a joke (albeit a dangerous one), so I'm not really up in arms about this whole Wiki thing. What I think is more alarming is that not many folks in MSM are covering the fact that McCain's attitude toward Russia right now is VERY, VERY dangerous to america. We already have two wars, and McCain is intent on creating two MORE (Russia and Iran). Uh, THIS should be covered ad naseum. Oh, and let's not also forget he has a GEORGIAN lobbyist on his campaign (unless he has removed him recently). THAT is the story.

If this was Obama, we'd be hearing about it through the convention.

I don't support McCain, but please criticize him on the stupidity and danger of his policies, not this non-story. Virtually nobody's political speeches use footnotes. It's hard to see how a person could state the historical facts without using some of the same words as the source(s) consulted. Unless the speech got the facts wrong, this is a non-story -- but probably an effective way to drum up some publicity for Wikipedia.

Try telling that to any college professor who punishes a student for plagerism. Dishonesty can take many forms and plagerism is a distinct dishonesty that is routinely punished severely in academics and in politics.

Why wasn't McCain able to stop the violence in Georgia with his vast foreign policy experience. After all, he's ready on day one and he has passed the CIC threshold and he knows how to win a war.

The double standards in this campaign continue to be amazing. McBush still leads 0bama on foreign policy questions even though McBush is factually wrong over and over again. If 0bama's campaign did this it would be game over for his presidency. 0bama has to play an almost impossible game of perfect while McBush plays by lower standards that a 12th grader.

I fear we will see the expectations game again in the debates. If McBush does not drool over himself the MSM will probably say he did well in the debates.

It's funny you say that. I don't know if your black, white or brown but I am a black woman and let me tell you something my mom always told me. She said honey as a black person you will have to work 10 times harder than any white person you know OR you will not be noticed, complimented and paid for a job well done.
AND, when you are working 10 times harder you must always always smile and NEVER complain or they will paint you as mean and bitchy.
If you can successfully work 10 times harder without appearing to be mean and bitchy then you will be successful in life.

So, I say that's why Barack seems so perfect (he is) and McCain can get away with all the crap he's gotten away with. IF this wasn't true then McCain's polling numbers would be MUCH much lower. And Barack's polling numbers would be MUCH much higher.
