John Edwards Nightline

Hollywood Reporter:

NEW YORK -- Friday night's exclusive "Nightline" interview with former presidential candidate John Edwards, which rocked the media landscape earlier in the day, did little to boost the news program's ratings, although it was able to hold its audience against the Olympics opening ceremony on NBC.

Friday's "Nightline" averaged a 2.6 household rating in the preliminary local people meter markets measured by Nielsen Media Research. That was on par with the previous week's household ratings. Also on par was the show's 1.2 rating in adults 25-54. But that in itself isn't a loss as "Nightline" managed to hold its own against the NBC Olympics juggernaut, not losing much in the way of audience as other shows did.

Did ANYONE think that maybe this is a non story! John Edwards is NOT running for anything and is not on anyones list for VP so WHY is this plastered everywhere. This is between him and his wife and family. This is a non story being hipped up so they don't have to cover what is considered real news.

Mabye it wasn't a winner on Nightline but Edwards is getting lots of free press on HuffPo. On the "Big Pages" strip on the Political page - there is no link to Barack Obama's page - the first one is Edwards.

Maybe this is good for Edwards - they say for celebrities that there ain't such a thing as bad news... IT works for Britney. He was dead in the press two weeks ago - now he's a Paparazzi's fave!

ABC never apologized for the debate debacles. I will never watch anything vaguely news related from them until the elections are over.

I'm still PO'ed about that too. I haven't watched ABC News since that debate.

John Edwards is a nice guy, certainly misunderstood and he's only human. The media needs to get off his back and move on.

Note: Only nice things can be posted about Edwards otherwise this will not pass Huffpo Censors.

Here in the Eastern Time Zone there was something more entertaining to watch than has been pols talkin about infidelity.

Of course the ratings stunk, no one wants to hear a socialist trial lawyer talk about cheating on his wife.
