Newsday TV: Cablevision Rolls Out Network To Promote Newspaper

When Cablevision finalized its acquisition of the Long Island daily Newsday last month, the cable operator said it would explore synergies between the two businesses, with an eye toward boosting advertising and subscription revenue on both sides.

Now, less than two weeks after the deal closed, Cablevision has announced the launch of "Newsday TV," an initiative that will allow iO digital-cable customers to sign up for a subscription to the paper via an on-screen order form.

Perched on channel 611 in Cablevision's Long Island footprint, the Newsday TV channel offers seven-day and weekend subscription packages for the paper, which boasts a circulation of 379,613. (Sunday circ is higher, at 441,728, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.)

The channel also features promotional information highlighting the paper's various sections, including local news, sports, classifieds and the LI feature well.

Cablevision will promote the channel via local spots and on-screen banners.
