Reuters:

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has rejected an Israeli peace proposal because it does not provide for a contiguous Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, Abbas's office said on Tuesday.

Nabil Abu Rdainah, Abbas's spokesman, told the official WAFA news agency Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's plan showed a "lack of seriousness".

the game never changes, the israelis start each negotiation by stating there ready to make painful concessions, they than make offers no one could possibly accept. next they act aggrieved that the palastinians have so little under standing of their generous offer. they now turn loose dozens of aipac members and their fellow travelers to hit all the key talk shows to explain how difficult it is to deal with people who don't recognize their sincerity and honesty. the bottom line? THEY are victims of their excessive goodness and charity. the palastinians will be judged as greedy, insincere and unworthy to be classified as a partner for peace. this same observation can be made in 2020 and 2030.

Once again the Israeli's propose a laughable settlement that Americans wouldn't even accept, and once again the Palestinians are forced to turn it down like any sane person in the world would have done, and once again the US Govt turns a blind eye to it all and blames it on the victims.

And so it goes...

The Palestinians have the wordls sympathy as the percieved underdog, just as the Jews had it in 1948. Let them put down their arms and they will have everything they want except if what they really want is the removal of Israel and the Jews and the ability of both to create a modern, productive, technically advanced, religiously and ethnically diverse and gender equal state -- which does not hang gays or stone adulterers.

So the Palestinian chose for the 256th time to continue living from European and American taxpayer's money. A very smart move as the money keeps flowing and flowing no matter what irrational illusion they hang onto.
Sweet.

The Israeli's do not want peace, what they really want is for the Palestinians to go away.

A good serious neighbor does not destroy olive groves and build settlements on other peoples land.

If they really, really wanted peace it would be accomplished within an hour but it is not peace they want, they want to make life so miserable for the Palestinians that they will get fed up and move to Jordan.

Then they can have their biblical land back, the land they claim belongs to them, a manifest destiny of sorts, trying to be implemented by religious fanatics, unconcerned with the welfare of their displaced and evicted fellow human beings.

And America supports these jailers who keep their neighbors in concentration camp type conditions, and then claim to be victims of terrorists.

hmmm, I guess thats why Israelis let Arafat, their worst enemy into Palestine. Because they were not interested in peace... Sell your B.S. somewhere else.

The Palestinians already predicted Israel's intentions with this announcement:

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said the report of the Israeli offer was "baseless or half-truths," and charged that Israel was preparing to make it look as if the Palestinians were responsible for rejecting a generous deal.

No negotiations needed. Just keep on brainwashing the next generation of Palestinians to believe that they should be fighting not talking. This really helped Arafat.... not.

I wouldn't want to exchange fertile land for arid land and have no sovereignty over my land, water and airspace. Who are the Isrealies kidding? What was presented today is not new and is unacceptable and shows that Israel is really not serious about the peace process, otherwise they wouldn't recycle the Camp David/Taba 2001 talks which have no validity given the new realities on the ground that would offer Palestinians Bantustans on their historical land.

Israel took the desert land and by hard work and ingenuity made it into a fertile garden. Perhaps Palestinians can also learn to work hard and give up their U.N welfare. But then the wanton destruction of high tech hothouses left to Gazans by Israel is not a good sign.

These arabs will never make peace. They consistently show a complete lack of reality. They could have had 95% or more of the land back when Arafat was alive but he rejected the plan. Now it's just another case of Palestinians sabotaging themselves again. They prefer to remain perceived as victims rather than as a real sovereign nation living in peace with Israel.

PS their is no continuity between Alaska and the US and there was NEVER any continuity between Gaza and the West Bank. A genuine peace deal would be easy if that were the goal. The W Bank makes a confederation with Jordan and Egypt takes Gaza. However, the Jordanians appear to be concerned about the Palestinians causing instability in Jordan and the Egyptians don't seem to have any desire to take back Gaza which they controlled for decades.

One has to wonder why none of the Arab countries were ever willing to absorb the refugees that they themselves helped to create ?

The "refugees" are hostages in the war against jews.

The raison d'etre of Arafat inventing this "Palestinian People" was to end the existence of a Jewish ruled nation in what Muslims believe to be their exclusive purview. They would never make any peace because that would be defacto recognition of Israel which they will never be a part of. Those with the big guns still believe this to be a violation of their religious beliefs and all of these so called peace negotiations are really nothing more then a sham on the part of the Muslims. They make the pretense of being serious but never intend to make any peace only to invent reasons to make it the fault of the Jews of course.

A good read to understand how deep the hatred of Jews actually is in the Islamic world would be "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirso Ali who describes the hatred and mistrust of Jews taught to the youngest members of the Islamic world. As long as this continues it borders on the absurd to think peace can ever come between Muslims and jews.

territorial continuity?
What continuity? There was never a connection between Gaza and West Bank.
The proposal is the best Palestinians can get now. Palestinians have no leader capable of enforcing ANY of the provisions of ANY peace deal.
Arafat had a golden opportunity and he rejected it and turned to terrorism to his eternal shame.
Barak/ Clinton deal was the best Palestinians will EVER get. Even Saudi Arabia was SHOCKED when Arafat rejected it.
Palestinians never lose opportunity to lose an opportunity. The world knows it.

Their opportunity WILL come; and when it does, many people will rejoice and many will cry.
