WATCH: Bill Plaschke of LA Times Eats Animal Penis In Beijing

The lip-syncing opening ceremony girl may not be the only thing American reporters in Beijing have trouble swallowing.

Reporters Kevin Pang of the Chicago Tribune and Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Time took a trip to a Beijing restaurant which serves only animal penis (and, as the video proves, the occasional testicle.)

The reporters didn't go overboard in their ordering, "the smallest collection of penises is what I'd like to get," says Placshke.

The experience was mostly positive, as Plaschke states, "I guess I like penis, it's very tasty."

My last post was censored because I said and provided various cites, that China exports 31 tons of dog meat to Korea and Japan. Oh well. . . 2nd try.

There are cultural difference in the West than in Asia. The Japanese think that a deer (we kill a lot of deer in this country) is sacred while we think whaling (whale meat and blubber are eaten in Japan) should be banned. China is doing something that most American don't know and that is paying Latin American anglers to kill sharks and remove their fins.

In China shark fin soup is considered a delicacy. Here in the US it's a travesty.

The sharks, not the most loved of animals, are caught in gill nets, pulled on a small boat, and are haggled and disfigured by cutting them up while they are still alive. The shark carcasses, many still alive, are thrown overboard and left to die.

All so a Chinese citizen can enjoy some salty broth. Where is our morality and outrage?

Other animals they munch on are bear, donkey, and rhino.

Oh please all these comments are cultural imperialism at it's worst.
It's pretty well known that other parts of the world humans will eat things that we in the US find disgusting, so get over it. I'm thinking Lebanese bull testicles and then there's that high priced exclusive and prestigious coffee whose beans have been swallowed by a civet and excreted then roasted and brewed, and then the usual horsemeat that the French consider a delicacy.
I have never been able to eat liver tho. And some folks from Europe think it's so primitive to eat corn, because that's what you feed farm animals.

Some friends of mine recently returned from China and enlightened me. Even when it comes to eating, they show no compassion. First, a restaurant which serves only animal penises, including those of seahorses and chickens, is ridiculous and disgusting.

Among other things (including household pets when the Olympics aren't in town), they serve live baby eels to be served live and killed in the boiling soup so as to preserve flavor and texture. They also serve seahorses on a stick, penises on a stick and one particularly revolting dish where they freeze the fish live, use a blow torch to char it's body until tender, then defrost it to be eaten as the diner watches the fish breathe and struggle for life! I'm sorry, but I would never even be able to eat in this country!
