Claire Danes is in negotiations to star in HBO's long-gestating biopic of Temple Grandin, a leading speaker on autism, animal expert and author.

Mick Jackson, whose credits include "The Bodyguard," the television series "Traffic" and HBO's "Live From Baghdad," is set to direct the film, from a script by Christopher Monger.

Grandin overcame the limitations imposed by the disorder to become a top scientist in the field of humane livestock handling.

Temple Grandin: one of the most fascinating women I've seen, heard or read! Can't wait to see this biopic.

This is a tough role to nail.
I've seen autistics portrayed by Rosie O'Donnell, Sigourney Weaver, Josh Hartnett, and Radha Mitchell and they all fall very short.
Temple Grandin is the Babe Ruth of the autistics and, hopefully, Claire Danes will do a better job than the above in portraying this most important individual.
By the way, when Ingrid Newkirk (head of PETA) was asked which living person she felt has done the most for the welfate of animals, she named Grandin. Even though a big-time self-confessed meat-eater, Grandin's work in the design of slaughterhouses revolutionized the industry and has minimized the suffering of untold millions of lifestock over the last 20 years.
