Pastor From Jenna Bush's Wedding Rails Against McCain

The pastor who officiated Jenna Bush's wedding in May recently criticized John McCain for his comments at a biker rally earlier this month. ABC has the story.

"Well, I don't know a lot about John McCain's family history, I do know, however, that as recently as last week I think it was, the Senator made a comment in South Dakota regarding his wife entering some Buffalo Chips contest which is this topless deal and if she were to enter she would probably win it and my personal opinion and based on my understanding of the Christian faith, that's not not, N-O-T, not the type of expression that a presidential candidate, or anyone for that matter who is a follower of the Christian faith, ought to make," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell. "I don't know if that is a perfect case in point, but it surely does help to juxtapose the DNA of Senator Obama, if you would, versus the DNA of Senator McCain."

Caldwell, a close personal friend of President Bush, is the senior pastor at Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. Caldwell made his comments on a conference call with reporters sponsored by the Matthew 25 Network, a liberal Christian Group. Matthew 25 is planning to air a pro-Obama ad on Saturday during the Rick Warren forum with Obama and McCain. The ad will air on CNN and possibly MSNBC, according to the group's spokesperson.

I hope pastors like Kirbyjon Caldwell can help Senator Obama get past his Reverend Wright problem. I don't disagree with what Reverand Wright said, it's just how he said it that was so unappealling. Pastor Caldwell is solid theologically and voice of reason. Plus, he's the pastor of the largest United Methodist church in the country, and there are over 30 million UM's in the country. He could really be a positive influence for Senator Obama in this election.

I would love there to be a topic at a debate about the first ladies roll, or how McCain thinks this type of phrase is worthy of a first lady. This type of behavior needs to be seen more in the public eye. Moral Values do count...ge­t it in the debate for all to see and hear.

How about this? All preachers/priests, rabbis, etc. who endorse Obama or McCain from the pulpit have their tax exempt status revoked as the IRS laws suggest. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of all of them. If they want taxpayers to subsidize their churches, then they need to play by the rules. They need to make up their minds if they want to be a political arm of the Democratic or Republican Party or if they want tax exempt status. That goes for all of them. It's time that the mainstream media started standing up to the Franklin Grahams, Pat Robertsons and Jeremiah Wrights of the world and tell them they have to "pay to play." Christopher Hitchens is right: All you have to do is put the words "Rev" or "Father" in front of your name and you can get away with saying the most outrageous things in the world and go unchallenged by the press.

Let's have the IRS enforce the laws and let the chips fall where they may.

tired of the media asking the candidates questions about their faith. Personally I could
care less, the so called "born again Christian" in office certainly hasn't impressed me.
One of the pastors here in my home town has preached that Obama is the anti-christ.
Of course he didn't come right out and use the name, but you would have had to be
brain dead to not know who he was talking about. If the IRS would yank that tax exempt
status they might shut up about politics and start handling salvation of the soul. I
really don't think a "Rev" or "Father" is qualified to tell me how to vote.

I sincerely doubt anyone who reads Huffpo could mistake it as a genuine photo instead of visual commentary. While I will admit that when Huffpo put Cindy McSame's head on the cookie monster's body for the article dealing with her ripping off other people's cookie recipes to call her own, I did spend the better part of the day thinking she had killed and skinned the cookie monster to have a coat made from his pelt, but the 911 operator cleared the whole thing up and now I can look at that photo and appreciate it for the joke that it was.
