Looks To Cut 25 Jobs With Buyout Offers

The Daily News is cutting jobs in the latest round of downsizing at the embattled tabloid.

The Mort Zuckerman-owned paper is looking for 25 volunteers in the newsroom to take buyouts as the paper copes with a decline in ad revenue.

"As the US newspaper industry faces rising costs and falling advertising revenues, the Daily News, like many of the US newspapers who have already made cuts, is faced with making necessary staff reductions in the newsroom through a voluntary buyout program," the paper said in a statement.

"This cost saving measure is not expected to affect the quality of our product moving forward."
