Expressing her delight at clinching a bronze in the dramatic windsurfing competition in Qingdao, Shaw told the nation "I am so f***ing happy."
The final race had begun with a false start and at one point Shaw touched with Spaniard Marina Alabau at one of the buoys.
But the 25-year-old recovered to finish second on the day, 12 seconds behind Italy's Alessandra Sensini. Her performace secured her a podium place in the overall competition.
