Report: NYT Investigating Relationship Between Edwards And Duke Graduate

To be taken with a large grain of salt: Radar Online says that the New York Times may be investigating a second John Edwards Affair centered at Duke University.

New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski is on a story. Serge, you'll remember, is the reporter who brought us the tale of Ashley Alexandra Dupré, the young working lady who consorted with former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. What's Serge up to? It looks slightly out of his normal range of Metro and local politics stories (although he does at times go national). All we know is it's a story about John Edwards and a Duke graduate--and right now he's combing the New York Times newsroom for Duke graduates to speak with.

Here is a true story, all you people are jumping all over EDWARDS for his straying frome his marrage. Here is how I read it. His wife has cancer, some of the treatments given for CANCER leaves woman Or Man not in the mood lets say. One of my friends wife had Cancer and NO sex for a whole year and now it is not often so here is how she told him how to handle it she said if he had an affair she never ever wainted to hear about it, one moring he got up ond she had gone off to take treatments the night befor,and in his pants pocket he found a peace of paper with names and TELEPHONE NO. on it and when he called it was for an escort service and other services in another city and state. He told me he used them , who was the note from(he said it looked like her writing) not the end of story for he loves his wife very much.

Maybe if Senator John Edwards looked like Senator John McCain the media would
cover this story from this angle.

What a waste of NYTimes. Why not invwatigates the ties of top Democratic nominess to the Lending Scandal that has been effectively dismissed by dimissing those eho chose to bring on some responsibility to the industry like Spitzer, Edwards, Clinton. No just bring them all down including little guy Patterson for association. The times should just let Murdoch buy them out already.

I believe the Times has the resources to investigate more than one story at a time. The people trying to shout down this story for six months act like the media has limited resources and can't investiage two stories (or more) at a time. I usually don't won't to know who is banging a politician but I believe John desires the attention. The first woman got paid money from his campaign for something that she really didn't any experience. She got paid over $100,000 from campaign funds. That could be a violation of federal laws. If it isn't a violation, it should be. Also John Edwards had these two Americas vision and now I starting to understand what he really meant. Barack was rumored to be considering him for VP, what would have happened if Barack would have chosen him? I really can't believe that rumor because everyone in the John Edwards campaign probably knew of this affair and stuff like that gets leaked to other campaigns. Why else would you hire a party girl, yoga instructor to document the campaign?

Money? I think investigating the obsene amount of money we the people, our taxes!, have paid out to the likes of Blackwater, Bechtel, Oil companies, the Corporate private prison system, Wall Street, and the Mortgage scandal, the truth about 911 and the real reasons for the run up to war? The Times does nothing but turn itself into the NYPost. Remember that most of the money in Edwards campign came from Edwards--he would not take Corporate monies the way the others did. I wnat a leader who owes nothing and the ones that owe nothing are the ones who have been increasingly, burned, and whose reputations have been made into a joke, by those who do.

Rielle did not get paid with campaign funds. She was paid with PAC (political action committee) funds. The rules governing each are very different. A wide diversity of uses is permitted with PAC funds, including the making of videos to promote the candidate.
If PAC funds were used to pay Rielle, no laws were broken.

So let me see if I get this straight: based on a National Enquirer report, the NY Times is now crawling into John Edwards pants while ignoring another report by the Enquirer that Bush is not only back on the sauce but serving his tubesteak to Condoleeza Rice, the Secretary of State, and they aren't going to touch that even though there are far graver implications from that than Edwards being a philanderer?

Makes sense to me.

Events of a personal nature in John Edwards' past are irrelevant as he is not running for anything and he is out of public life at this time. Digging around for another scandal can only hurt his wife and family and why would a reporter with integrity want to do that?

Instead of looking through trash cans and digging up skeletons, why not find out who exactly forced the Edwards infidelity story on the public just in time to embarrass Democrats before their big convention. That's the big story here.

He's out of public life right now because he got caught bangin' some other woman while his wife was sitting at home with cancer. Had that affair been kept under the radar, he'd be speaking at the Dem Convention next week and could have been considered for VP.
