Politico:

The spokesman for the American Issues Project, the independent group whose ad is the most negative of the cycle and links Obama to terrorism, says the group just filed a report naming its sole donor.

The donor, spokesman Christian Pinkston said, is Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons, who made his first fortune in chain pharmacies and is now listed as the 73rd richest person in the world, with a net worth estimated by Forbes at $2.1 billion.

Simmons, a major Republican donor, gave maximum $2,300 contributions to Senator John McCain last year, as well as to former Governor Mitt Romney and to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Dear Mr. Simmons,

Who determines the fact that a school teacher makes 50K per year while a doctor or lawyer can make even 100 times that much? We the people do. WE LET YOU BE RICH. We the people determine the laws that allow you to accumulate wealth. We will determine who will be the President and if we decide to tax you till your piggy bank breaks we will, and you will have to deal with it.

Luckily for you, we have no such intention, though in your case I think we all wouldn't lose too much sleep... Sleep well with the money we are allowing you to keep, but don't instigate too much because, you know, we could change our minds.

Unfortunately the wealthiest among us are often not the wisest. Pakistan has severe corruption, deceit and power-grabs happening within its political sphere of leadership. This has so enraged the people, that anarchy is at hand and possibly a nuclear nightmare.

Mr. Ayers doesn't seem to care that he may further divide America and enrage liberals by personally funding his own advertisement campaign to elect John McCain. In this country we must remain ever vigilant of 527's, swift boaters, and wealthy individuals who think they can buy control of America. This is the height of subversion politics and is completely counter to Democracy. Nothing could be further from patriotism, fairness and equality.

If we are lucky and the American middle class does not vote against it's own self interest a 3rd time, President Obama must institute strict campaign finance reform that guarantees one-person-one-vote; no less and no more!

No single individual should be able to buy influence in our elections. For the US to remain a true democracy, our leaders must be appointed by all Americans in an equitable and fair manner!

Have you looked up Mr. Ayers? I don't think he's who you think he is.

I don't know about you all, but I'm taking back my country from the aristocracy.
I've had enough of their "trickle down economics" which isn't trickling down.

I'm voting Obama/Biden!

Cindy McCain refers to herself as an only child. This is news to her two half-sisters who Cindy made sure were cut out of the will.

Someone submitted a great idea to TalkingPointsMemo. He suggested that the Obama campaign do an analysis of how much tax the McCains would pay under the McCain Tax Plan (read "Bush Tax Plan") and then how much they'd pay under the Obama Tax Plan, which is laid out pretty well in this Sunday's NYT Magazine.

I was really impressed with the idea since it truly brings the elitist point home and also raises the issue of why McCain and others of his ilk would prefer it the other way around.

Then, of course, there's the fact that Rove is working overtime on the McCain campaign because if McCain is elected, Rove doesn't have to worry about the possibility of going to jail.

I'm giving more money to the Obama campaign right after the convention with the hope that not only will Obama/Biden be elected, but that Karl Rove may one day find himself behind bars.

"It takes more than a good soldier; it takes a wise leader."
