A two-year-old letter by Vice President Dick Cheney that push-ed a controversial Alaska natural-gas pipeline bill is getting renewed scrutiny because of recently disclosed evidence in the Justice Department's corruption case against Sen. Ted Stevens. In a conversation secretly tape-recorded by the FBI on June 25, 2006, Stevens discussed ways to get a pipeline bill through the Alaska Legislature with Bill Allen, an oil-services executive accused of providing the senator with about $250,000 in undisclosed financial benefits. According to a Justice motion, Stevens told Allen, "I'm gonna try to see if I can get some bigwigs from back here and say, 'Look ... you gotta get this done'." Two days later, Cheney wrote a letter to the Alaska Legislature urging members to "promptly enact" a bill to build the pipeline. The letter was considered unusual because the White House rarely contacts state lawmakers about pending legislative matters. It also angered state Democrats, who accused Cheney of pushing oil company interests. The executive director of Cheney's energy task force later worked as a lobbyist for British Petroleum, one of three firms slated to build the pipeline.

It will be interesting to see how the GOP Convention Receives Cheney. How much time they even allow him to actually speak.

Most of Washington has distance themselves from him.... He makes Agnew Spiro Look Very Clean!

He will be in hiding for the rest of his life with lots of security always around..... What away to live? Sooooo Rich and yet......Sooooo Very Very Poor!

I'm surprised Cheney put it in writing. He's getting sloppy...leaving a paper trial.

What is that scary fraternity that all the presidents have been a member of? I hear if Obama becomes president, he will be the only president who has not been a member of it. If Democrats and Republicans are both members of this exclusive fraternity, to me this shows that there is some serious collusion between members of both parties. Why on earth didn't the Clintons find the people responsible in the CIA for selling drugs in black neighborhoods?

To paraphrase, "Corruption in the Bush Administration? I'm shocked!" Now that Cheney has been connected as one of the dots, expect this whole thing to go down some black hole in space from which it will never reappear!

I believe business does far more harm meddling with government than government does meddling with business.

Oh oh, hope another material witness doesn't mysteriously, and for no reason, commit suicide like the Dc Madam.

Hate when that happens.

The only thing surprising about this is the fact the FBI is actually doing something about it. A real investigation, of repugs high in the government.........what's next, a preemptive pardon?

Like Congress (FISA) premptively pardoning ATT and company intercepting our phone conversations in violation of our rights!

The minutes of the 'secret" energy task force meetings held by Chenney (so many years ago) must be made public - lest we the people accept the notion of totalitarianism and corporate domination over basic fundamental democratic principles of accountability of public funds.
"No taxation without representation" was the batlle cry for a revolution!
Impeach Chenney and Bush! Then indict them and convict them in a court of law for their crimes against the people of America!
They can join the millions of Americans in prison who "crimes" pale in comparison.

Dick Cheney linked to corruption? What's more, corruption involving oil companies and their pipelines?! Say it isn't so! In truth, the only thing new was the ad at the top of the article.
