DENVER — A black delegate for Hillary Rodham Clinton says she was called an "Uncle Tom" by Illinois Senate President Emil Jones, one of Barack Obama's political mentors.

Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb says Jones made the remarks Saturday night while discussing her support for Clinton. She called the remark "fighting words" and unacceptable.

Jones, who also is black, said Monday that he never uttered the slur. He says he referred to Cobb and other Clinton supporters as "doubting Thomases."

Cobb says that explanation doesn't make sense because she confronted Jones at the time and he didn't indicate she'd misunderstood.

A dispute within the Illinois delegation could distract from the unity message Obama is trying to deliver this week.

Emil Jones who has just set up his son to take over his senate seat in Ill. (talk about a Dynasty) is now trying to deny that he used a racial slur against another African American female who supported Hillary Clinton.

Problem is, there were several witnesses. The guy is a race-baiter and a liar. Par for the course?

Why is it the melodrama abounds among the Clinton's, and apparently their most ardent supporters?? Contrary to what they may believe EARTH DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON.

You are correct . . . the world does NOT revolve around Sen or Pres Clinton . . . BUT 18 MILLION VOTERS FELT SHE WOULD BEST REPRESENT OUR HOPES, dreams, and longing for change. If I dare send a contrary word regarding Sen Obama (especially here to Huffpo), the responses are often plentiful and full of unique and colorful critiques (and then some), usually based in emotion rather than evidence.

I heard Sen Clinton herself mention the "dream team" during the primary and her pleasure at the idea, but it seems to have been to overwhelming for the Obama group to endure. 36 million pleased voters . . . that's a freakin' nightmare. The Gallop poll of 45/45 just after the DNC names the VP, after 8 years of GW Bush, and it's 45/45. What's the goal again?

I believe he was thinking beyond winning or losing to how effective his presidency would be if HRC were his VP. Perhaps he may have gotten a boost by picking her, but if he didn't feel 4-8 years with her as his VP was going to make him an effective president, he would have been doing the country and himself a disservice by picking her. I respect that his think about more that just winning when making decisions. Most politicians only think about winning and will do and say anything JUST to win, not to be good public servants!

That would be funny if she had no idea what a doubting Thomas was and thought that she was called an Uncle Tom. For the person who did not know that being called an Uncle Tom is a racist insult, he should just look it up. The term has so much history and baggage, it would take a long time to explain.

For Pete's sake! We're fighting for the survival of this country and this woman is screaming, "MOM, HE TOUCHED ME!" or "MOM, HE'S LOOKING AT ME!"

Grow up, Lady.

Rep. Emmanuel Cleaver from Kansas City experienced the same racist intimidation. There were many examples of under the radar dirty tricks while Obama floated above the fray. He played the race card through surrogates like Jesse Jackson Jr., Donna Brazile and others, cynically crafting the worst kind of smear tactics against the Clintons whose lifelong dedication to civil rights is beyond debate. The game plan was always to drive a wedge between thesse incredible public servants and their AA constiuents. Gullible zealots bought it hook line and sinker and damaged the most talented, extraordinary, Dems in memory. If I didn't know better I'd suspect Karl Rove set the whole thing up. But no, just cynical, coreless politicians driven by ambition to forward the candidacy of an ill-prepared, callow, ego-driven neophyte. You wonder why so many Clinton supporters can't stand the thought of an Obama candidacy? There are plenty of effective, tough, fair primary tactics and then there's this stuff. And THIS stuff was beyond the pale. It won't be forgotten.

I'm sorry but this is total Bullsh!t. I can't understand why people feel as if the AA community owes its life and undying support to the clintons. i was a staunch defender of Bill during the whole monicagate, but that doesn't mean i have to support everything he does. Newsflash, people heard the things the clintons were saying during the primaries and decided for themselves what the intention was whatever media spin that was involved was unnessecary. And since u wana try and portray Obama as an ill-prepared neophtye(who happened to kick the crap out of the Clintons and their political machine) what does that say about her since he won? The clintons are not entitled to teh presidency just because of who they are. get over it.

Prism, your prism is cracked. Forget about it already! YOU GUYS LOST!!! There is nothing you can do to change that. Your crew can come up with every conceivable slight, insult, smear, whatever but it will not change the fundamental reality that your candidate LOST. Drop your bitterness and get on with the program. We must defeat this Neocon hegemony and do it NOW! We've got one candidate, so let's go. The more the independents and undecideds see we are still fighting a battle that is long since over, the more confused they will be. The more divided we will seem. The Repugs LIKE THAT! SO you really want to support allow the Repugs whose hands are dripping with the blood of over 4000 American troops sent to their deaths based on a lie? Do you really want the rich to continuously get richer? Do you want to live in a constant state of fear doubt and division? Do you really want to continue the same old hellish policies? If so, keep on finding as much fault as you can with Obama and his clear cut victory. Keep up your whine long enough and he could lose. Keep your whine up and it will be 2016 before we have another chance. Keep up your whine and the real racists will lick their chops as they kick progressive American in the behind again. You better wake up. Whose side are you on?

It seems that you really believe all this bullhuckey you put out. How dare you? I am an African American. I was the staunchest Clinton supporter. They drove away AA support with their own words, which were just horrible. You are a liar to suggest that Barrack put this stuff out. Just a little bit of research changed how I felt about the Clintons. Why was his list of people he pardoned so long? Why were Vin ce's papers shredded? The Clintons have never been vetted enough to catch them. The truth about them is worse than I can even say, so much so that it is hard to believe; that is why they got away with everything because it is so unbelievable.

"...lifelong dedication to civil rights is beyond debate."

Civil rights means you respect people's lives. Look up Ron Brown. Find the Clinton bodyguards and ask them what they think of him. Find one. The Clintons are members of the corporatocracy. He is good friends with Bush Sr. who is so deep in scandal about drugs and the Peter Soby scandal that Bill should never associate with those crooks. Collusion? Why can't we see Bill's list of donors?

Countless former Clinton supporters are now backing Obama (if only because they cannot stand what Bush ahs done to this country). Quit talking up something that's not true. Women are not flocking in droves to support McCain.

However, Obama and Biden MUST get together and start to pull ahead in this race or McCain is going to blow the Democrats out of trhe water. That won't be due to Hillary supporters, but due to Obama's inability to sell enough people on his merits.

Well, you can tell something about a person by the company they keep.

So I know which one I believe.

Oh is that so?

So then you judged O based on his pastor and friend of how many years?

You judged O based on his close working relationship with Tony Rezko?

So you judged and approved of his friendship and personal push for funds for Father Flefger? (spelled wrong, I am sure)

Before you throw that stone, please be sure your glass house has a few unbroken panes left for the return stone to do something other than bounce off your otherwise empty head.

I have yet to hear anything from Wright or Pfleger that wasn't an honest, valid point.

Obama never had a "working relationship," close or otherwise, with Rezko. Rezko had not even been arrested at the time Obama knew him.

What else you got?

The clinton's are trying everything in their power to insure Sen. Obama doesn't get elected.
The msm should be held accountable for making the clinton's the center piece of Sen. Obama campaign.

Sometimes i wonder what if the shoes was in the other foot???????

Probably someone would have ended up like Ron Brown and a dozen or more others. The Clinton Dynasty is nothing more than mob mentality.

The black delegate forgets how she got to where she is. The Clintons don't give a damn about your butt. If you get in trouble guess who would come to your aid...African Americans and not the Clintons.

This is very petty. This person seems like someone who needs some recognition. This is silly. I would not have even mentioned this because of the pettiness. We need to stop hiding behind the pettiness and admit that much of this is going on because Obama is black. Those democrats who are refusing to vote for Obama for any reason other than him not being the best candidate are only fooling themselves about the real reason. This is such a sad situation and all of these petty side issues are an insult to a persons intelligence. We all know what the real reason is behind the Hillary supporters refusal to support Obama and that is their decision, but please ask them not to pretend. Much of it is caused by a superiority complex. We're still stuck somewhere in the period of reconstruction.
