Denver Police Have Already Arrested About 100 Protesters

The Associated Press reports that, as of early Tuesday, about 100 people have been arrested following the breakup of a protest by Denver police.

The confrontation erupted Monday night as police in riot gear tried to disperse a crowd of about 300 people that was disrupting traffic near the Denver City and County Building.

Police said they were forced to use pepper spray when members of the crowd, some carrying rocks, rushed a police safety line. But one protester said officers charged the protesters with no warning.

Those arrested faced charges for violating city ordinances including failure to obey a lawful order, obstructing a public roadway and interference.

"The bonds have ben set low enough so that we believe that most people will bond out in a relatively short time," said John Harrison of the Joint Information Center, a command set up by city, state and federal authorities to field media inquiries during the convention.

Harrison said two officers deployed pepper spray during the incident, while another officer shot pepper balls, similar to a paint ball containing pepper spray.

Forget this why does the media not have video of all the protesters removed form and arrested after protesting Bush..
Bush and his cronies have been suppressing free speech since they got into office.
You cannot be in a building they are in protesting. Even if you are a school teacher and it is a public building.
We have a right to peaceful protest in this country

And these guys getting arrested look to me to be there just for the purpose of causing a ruckus for the news media.

Brings to mind the old joke: "What do you call 100 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean?"
Answer: "A good start."

Yes, you patriotic little darlings, you surely do have the right to make your grievances heard-provided you do so in a peaceful and orderly manner. And if the authorities impede you, you have a valid grievance and possible legal action against them.

That said, if you engage in blocking entrances, streets, sidewalks,etc. or "shutting things down" then you are infringeing on the rights of other citizens, and all bets are off. In that case, the authorities are entitled to use as much force (but no more than) as necessary to subdue you and restore order and thus the rights of your fellow citizens.

Bottom line here is there are tons of pictures out there showing protestors with rocks and other weapons, with bags full of prune juice or wine or...somet­hing, that they were throwing at the cops, pictures of protestors running towards police with their arms cocked back like they're going to punch. Yet this "news video" makes no mention or shows not a single shot of it. And furthermore, goes so far as to gloss over the fact that the protestors broke the law by leaving the park they were assigned to trying to storm the convention center.

I say apply Occam's Razor to the situation. Which is more likely:

A) Due to a government conspiracy, the police in Denver (and in other protests nationwide lately), all of whom are in on the conspiracy, ruthlessly attack, harass and beat 3,000 protestors, every last one of whom is acting peacefully and civilly within the area that the city allotted them to conduct their protests. They do so without any regard for human life or basic rights afforded by the Constitution, and the protestors are unfairly oppressed. All evidence pointing to protestor misconduct is doctored by the shadow organization behind the conspiracy, and all misconduct on the part of protestors are just government plants made to look the protestors look bad.

Or....

B) That 2 guys with video cameras and a laptop took some footage and edited out anything that would explain why the police(who are just regular people like you and I who are concerned for their safety due to being outnumbered by screaming people) boxed in the protestors and refused to let them march to the convention center in spite of said people being explicitly told to stay away from the convention center. The end result being a piece of video footage that is heavily edited and makes the protestors out to be oppressed victims from top to bottom.

the police are servants of democracy as such they are entrusted with the mission to protect the publics constitutional right to protest while at the same time protecting the publics right to private property and the safety of individuals that said the police in a true democracy would only target individuals caught in the act of threatening the sanctity of private property and the safety of individuals

I have marched in protest and seen the faces of the local and state police glaring at american citizens in the act of exercising their constitutional right to protest

unarmed and unprotected I could not help but feel threatened by their posture I certainly never felt protected

on my drive home from work tonight, I saw a black pick up truck with an american flag and a confederate flag mounted on both sides of the truck bed

when I arrived home there were two obama signs posted by my wife to the trees in front of our house

america for good or bad is a balancing act of extremism and moderation

I would remind everyone that this country and its allies are at war against extremists
