Bob Novak Writes In To Advocate Against "Lieberman Disaster"

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Reports of strong support within John McCain's presidential campaign for Independent Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman as the Republican candidate for vice president are not a fairy tale. Influential McCain backers, plus McCain himself, would pick the pro-choice liberal from Connecticut if they thought they could get away with it.

But they can't get away with it -- and this has been made clear to McCain by none other than Joe Lieberman himself.

Lieberman surely doesn't know that much about Republican politics, but he has close Republican friends. One of them prevailed on Lieberman to tell McCain that a McCain-Lieberman ticket would be a disaster for all concerned, and especially for the GOP.

Even with Novak suffering from cancer, Karl Rove continues to use Novak as his message delivery boy. As proof, yesterday Karl refused to say that he did not call Lieberman or his staff encouraging Lieberman to withdraw his name as a possible VP candidate. And Rove did it on his own propaganda network with Chris Wallace asking him the question. Now that takes big ones.

Bob Novak, I disagree with you pretty much all the time but there is no excuse for doing what Karl Rove has continued to do by using you.

Novak and other Mcain supporters are petrified at the idea of a Lieberman VP pick. They know Mcain only has two main groups of supporters: the elderly, and bigots.

My money is on Giuliani, even though not one news source has listed him as a possibility. Giuliani, for some strange reason, is considered both good on economy and foreign policy (for the stupidest reason, ever) and was the front runner for two years straight.

During last night's PBS coverage of the Democratic Convention, conservative NYT columnist David Brooks may have "let the cat out of the bag".
He said something to the effect that if McCain chooses Lieberman as his running mate, he'll win the election.
I guess we'll know tomorrow.

He got charged with some kind of lesser charge as I recall, but then he announced he had a brain tumor and all talk of him being held accountable for his actions became taboo - I'll be surprised if this comment doesn't get nixed.

First of all, John McCain would make a disasterous choice if he picked Lieberman. You can tell how much he helped last time he ran for VP. But further, Lieberman is more in line with McCain than most Republicans. It amazes me that any thinking Republican can think McCain is dependable enough about supporting core Republican values. McCain is the one that Republicans need to worry about and they seem oblivious about how eratic he is, what a temper tantrum looks like coming from this grey haried guy and how terribly mean McCain can be. The problem with the ticket would not be Lieberman, it would be McCain and his out of control temper. OBAMA FOR THE BEST CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!
