SCOTIA, Calif. -- Tree sitters have ended their demonstrations in part of northern California's Humboldt County after a timber company working in the area re-emerged with a new name and new purpose.

The Humboldt Redwood Co. takes the place of the Pacific Lumber Co., which had went bankrupt, was purchased and renamed, according to the LA Times.

I admire the tree-sitters. The logging companies have had little reverence for the incredible creatures called "trees".

Definitely unsung heroes, working and living to protect living organisms that are hundreds of years old, saving them for future generations to enjoy in their natural states, not as coffee tables and newspapers.

This is good news. One small battle won, many more to go.
