While his opponent may be trying to brand him as a celebrity, Barack Obama isn't the biggest star in his own daughters' eyes.

When Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Monday night after their mom Michelle's speech, they had no idea their dad was going to be beamed in live via satellite. When Mrs. Obama told the girls she had a surprise for them, the potential first lady was pretty surprised at the response.

"Is it the Jonas Brothers?" Malia asked.

The girls were pretty upset when they found out they would have to be in Denver during the same weekend Kevin, Nick and Joe would be in their hometown of Chicago -- the girls' love for the Jonas boys is well-documented.

Actually, they're playing a medley of Wagner's greatest hits

The opening film will be 'Apocalypse Now'

Can't blame them; if it were me (back in the day), it would probably be New Edition (with Bobby Brown) haha!

Well, they're just being normal. This is not news. It's cute, tho.

There are a lot of reporters in Denver right now, some more junior than others.

How much news could there be?

Hopefully, this will put the CEO of MtV one nickel closer to that operation he's been needing.

The Obama Daughters watch the Disney show "Cory in the House" They remind me of Sophie Martinez. The President's Daughter America's little angels.

That staged cuteness is getting stale. It's becoming clear that noe of that "normalcy" is for real. It's all calculated and staged.

We are just like everyone else good and bad. Your mind will never be changed because you have been charged with an existence of miserable denial and ignorance.

We are here ... We have been here ... And we're not going away!

Get used to it ... Get over it!!!

Yeah, I'm sure those two are unrepentant terrorists posing as adorable children. It's a brilliant disguise.

It sure must suck to be such a bitter person. Is that a prerequisite for being a Republican?

what? Really? Your that jaded? Say what you please about Obama, but his family is a pleasure and their love for one another is palpable. Those girls are darling and SO obviously real.

If I were that age, it would have been Eddie Van Halen.

We are all watching here in NJ and none of us are sitting on the sidelines. Particularly, Gioia of Expose. She has a song for Senator Obama that will surely knock the ball out of the park. Young people are downloading it in droves.

The song, 'We Can Change The World' is a free download and inspired by Barack and his message of unity.
As one fan of the song as put it "Change the world one song, one action, one belief at a time"

I am asking that you go to the download site and listen for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Gioia is a seasoned recording artist with triple platinum status. An artist that has devoted the past few months to executing the song for Obama.

Here is the link with her email. Hope Barack and his young supporters love it as much as we do!

No, with Obama's daughters you get the Jonas Bros. With Obama, you get Stevie Wonder!

You have a PROBLEM with Stevie Wonder?

Picking Biden was good, but I want to know which bands he picks for the inaugural ball.

My faves, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Delaware is spiritually part of the Jersey Shore.

With Obama's kids, we get the Jonas Brothers.

With McCain, we get Abba.

Sounds like a tossup.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:03 PM on 08/27/2008

Please....I have shoes older than the Jonas Brothers. Give me Abba anyday...just not McCain to go along with them.

Yeah, but your shoes probably aren't little Republicans. PS: Don't tell Sasha and Melia.

I think Obamas daugthers should ride an attack wave on McCain.
Cute will always trump old and grumpy. :-)

Get a whole long string of stupid things that McCain says in a YouTube video.

And then, after each one, play "I love you Daddy."

That should do the trick.

it might even make me cry.

Then the right will attack them. Like Bush attacked Bridgette, like Rush and John McCain attacked Chelsea.

Nah.

You will all be relieved to know that the Jonas Brothers are saving themselves for marriage.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:18 PM on 08/27/2008

Yep. They wear their Pledge of Abstinence Chastity Rings. I suppose that keeps the rumor mills from speculating on whether or not the older one is of the gay persuasion.

Considering the Jonases are
A. Probably Republicans, considering their proselytising evangelicism, and
B. Similar in looks to Alvin and the Chipmunks and
C. Not especially talented
one would hope the Obamas would try to steer their girls to something better. I had to wade through a thousand screaming girls the other day to get to my bank machine (my bank is under the MTV Studios) and couldn't help thinking that teen idoldom is not what it used to be. (At least Ricky Martin was cute!)

Tongue firmly in cheek, of course. I'm sure the Jonases are lovely kids, even when they put down the flat iron.

"Teen idoldom" has ALWAYS been this way?
Remember David Cassidy?
Remember the Monkees?
Remember those three brothers from Oklahoma?
The girls acted the same then as they do now.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:42 PM on 08/27/2008

Oh, it's not the girls who have changed- just the caliber of talent. The Monkees made good music that lasted (lasted enough that when they first reunited kids who had only seen them in reruns showed up). I give you David Cassidy, though. He was awful. ;) And Janemas, lighten up, will you? Did you not even get the fact that I'm having some fun by the comment I made in my second paragraph? Sheesh.

Interesting you mention Tokio Hotel. My daughter (15) thinks the Jonas brothers are "stupid" but she lately really likes German rock bands, mentioning Tokio Hotel recently. Are they any good?

They're probably trying to keep the girls away from Ludacris.
