Variety:

Steven Spielberg has directed a film short on the country's military veterans that is scheduled to unspool tonight at the Democratic National Convention.

Spielberg plans to attend the convention tonight, although he is not expected Thursday night when Barack Obama accepts the nomination at Invesco Field, according to a spokesman for the director.

The film is narrated by Tom Hanks and was produced by Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks.

Do remember that Speilberg endorsed Phil Angiledes for Governor of Cali...oh, you say he endorsed Ah-nuld? My bad.

hopefully someone will mention that McCain did not vote for the GI Bill because it was too generous.

The final sequence, a glowing finger raised to the heavens,

"P.U.M.A. Go home."

Great idea for a film, and not a moment too soon.

War on Terror Update
Confidence in War on Terror and Iraq at Highest Level Ever
Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Voter confidence in the War on Terror is at the highest level ever recorded since Rasmussen Reports began regular tracking in January 2004. Fifty-four percent (54%) of American voters now think the United States and its allies are winning the war. The previous high-water mark for optimism--52%--was reached a handful of times in September and October 2004.

Optimism about the situation in Iraq is also at an all-time high. Forty-eight percent (48%) now expect the situation in that troubled country to get better over the next six months. Only 17% expect things to get worse. In addition to being the most optimistic assessment ever recorded, these numbers reflect a remarkable turnaround over the past year.

Rasmussen provides free ad space to John McCain 24/7.

Take this and any of their political polling, with a gigantic grain of salt.

I hope it says:

7/2008:McCain supports RATIONING healthcare for Vets.

6/11/08:Republican FORBES; "McCain's top economic adviser, Doug Holtz-Eakin, blithely supposes that CUTS in defense spending could make up for reducing the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%" ie., cut defense spending to cover corporate tax cuts."

5/22/2008:McCain voted AGAINST Webb'sGI Bill[vote 137]

9/19/2007:McCain voted AGAINST Bill specifying minimum periods of time between deployment of units sent to Iraq[vote 341]

5/4/2006:McCain voted AGAINST Amendment that would provide $20 Million to Department of Veterans Affairs for healthcare facilities[vote 111]

4/26/2006:McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote AGAINST $430,000,000 for Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans[vote 98]

3/14/2006:McCain voted AGAINST increasing Veterans medical services funding $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.McCain loves tax loopholes for corporations,he voted for them over veterans' needs[vote 41]

3/10/2004:McCain voted AGAINST increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion[vote 40]

10/2/2003:McCain voted to TABLE Amendment that called for additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq[vote 376]

4/2/2003:McCain voted to TABLE voting to provide more than $1 Billion for National Guard and Reserve Equipment in Iraq related to shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests[vote 116]

ya gotta ask, "Why does McCain hate our military so much?"

His contempt for and voting against veteran issues goes way back. What you posted is a contiuation of a trend that started over a decade ago. Check out the link below.

Major kudos to Speilberg and company!
Lets hope the networks show the film.
The news coverage of the convention is pretty crappy - they're only showing "major speeches" and spend the rest of the time putting in their 2 cents worth of nothing.

C-SPAN is much better for watching if you have cable. i did cut away for awhile to MSNBC to watch the catfight between Olbermann and Matthews. That was fun.
