DENVER — More than 84,000 people have jammed into Invesco Field at Mile High stadium to hear Barack Obama's historic acceptance speech, city officials say.

Nancy Kuhn of Denver's public works department says the figure is based on the number of credentials that were scanned as delegates, individuals and news media entered the football stadium where Obama was accepting the Democratic presidential nomination Thursday night.

The stadium normally holds 76,125 people, but additional seats were placed on the football field where the Denver Broncos play.

I wish the prayer chasers wish had come true and it poured rain onto Mile High.
Because only 116 of the 84,000+ people would have left their seat. And 115 of them worked for Fox News.
We all would have cheered for more rain.
And isnt it funny a hurricane is moving through during their old tired out mouth exercise in the Twin Cities.

Type-o correction:

Obama brought in over 80,000 who wanted to see him and hear his message.

McCain is going to be doing good to have a total attendance of 10,000.

The people of spoken.

One could say McCain could use a little C-e-l-e-b-r-i-t-y !!

I watched Obama's speech the first time and since - I've watched it again and again!

The speech and setting - could only amount to SHOCK and AWE for the Republicans - as you can see - as McCain stumbled around for his VP choice.

So on Joe Scarborough this morning they did a piece about parking near the stadium. They showed several lots that were charging $80 to park and kept saying "now that's change you can believe in". Then they showed a guy actually wearing a McCain shirt and loving the fact that he got $80 a pop.

The point is that only Joe Scarbourough could take a story about the parking outside the stadium by private lot owners and somehow try to tie it to the Democrats as a negative.

Our beloved main steam media does it again. Just more of the same liberal media bias for Obama.

Those private lots around the stadium ALWAYS do this. Ask ANYONE who's been in Denver for any length of time -- whether it's for Bronco games or concerts. You should have seen what was going on when the POPE spoke there.

I stopped watching his show long ago. I always get this nauseating feeling when I hear him talk.

I have a parking lot story for Joe. Obama, Bless his heart, came to Lynchburg, VA to speak. In case you didn't know, Lynchburg, VA, is home to Jerry Falwell, and his followers Jerry Falwell owns the City, lock stock and all that are in the barrel. . Mc Cain came to speak at his 'CHURCH", and there was no problem with them for that. Obama was speaking at a HS, which is across the street from a place called the Plaza, which is a deserted Shopping Center. What I didn't know is that Jerry Falwell and Liberty College owned the abandoned Shopping Center. His Son Jerry Falwell, Jr. forbid citizens from parking in that empty lot, for 'political/religious' reasons, not to mix Church and State... So, people had to park at a Baseball field named after Falwell's Brother, and be bussed to EC Glass High School.

McCain was permitted to politic in his 'CHURCH', but Democrats were not permitted to park in his empty lot. Now if that isn't a 'CRAFTY CHRISTIAN', Republican in action, here is all of me.

Parking has always been at a premium near Invesco/Mile High. This is nothing new

McCain has to be jealous of Obama's star power. What would you have him do? When he was at the bikers' rally he said he'd rather be with 50, 000 bikers than 200,000 Germans any day (I'm paraphrasing). I almost felt sorry for him, because he knows he only attened a rally that size while Obama drew his, and four times as large no less.

I know he put his convention right after the DNC's to prevent a convention bump by grabbing the headlines, but I wonder if he regrets it knowing that the audio/visual contrasts between the two conventions while Obama's showing is fresh in everyone's memory will make the RNC's pale in comparison.

McCain is so envious of Obama, it has been shown in his Copy Cat, Childish moves to emulate, his policies, and platform. Lets see if he can 'FIND' 84 thousnd people to see/hear him lie?

did they actually "Sell" tickets or did they just let the public come in for free?
cuz if they did, would that be a defacto campaing contribution?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:54 PM on 08/29/2008

It's always free but they ask for people to work in the campaign, as they should.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:15 PM on 08/29/2008

What is wrong with tickets as campaign contributions? The GOP sells those tickets at the $1 million level for their public fund raisers, remember? The venue is different and the catering is better, but the principle is exactly the same.

:-)
