Politico:

Count Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as one of the most surprised that she was chocen as unning mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

In an interview just a month ago, she dissed the job, saying it didn't seem "productive."

In fact, she said she didn't know what the vice president does.

Is this the financial genius we are talking about?
The Chicago Tribune Interview 12/07: McCain said, "The issue of economics is something that I've really never understood as well as I should. I understand the basics, the fundamentals, the vision, all that kind of stuff,'' he said. "But I would like to have someone I'm close to that really is a good strong economist. As long as Alan Greenspan is around I would certainly use him for advice and counsel..."I've never been involved in Wall Street, I've never been involved in the financial stuff, the financial workings of the country, so I'd like to have somebody intimately familiar with it," he said of a potential vice presidential candidate, that’s Sarah Palin?

I have a real problem with republicans who claim to be so angelic.
How many of YOU have had an abortion?
I find it hard to believe that only Democrats have abortions.
I myself am a Democrat and do not believe in abortions AND I would never abort a Downs child. All life is precious.
And if the republican party is against the issue; why is it still legal and lawful? Why have they not gotten rid of the law?

"We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., "

Sorry, but that statement shows that she is mentally unready for ANY national office whatsoever.

Could you imagine if Obama said he was runnign for president so he could help out the South Side of Chicago. Or If McCain said he was running for president to advance all the good things that Phoenix is doing? (Both by the way have more people than all of Alaska.)

After nearly 8 years in office, George Bush has very little idea what it is that Dick Cheney has been doing, either.

Sarah,

The job of the Vice President is two-fold:

1) Inquire daily, as to the health of the President.

2) Preside over the Senate.

That's pretty much it, though the first part might be a full-time job itself, with the old white guy in the Oval Orifice.

You should have some spare time, though; and you can spend that on the phone, twisting arms to get what you can for Alaska -- as if Alaska hasn't gotten it's lion's share already, with Stevens and Young in office lo, these many ages.

Why?................ Because that grantees a loss for McCain.............. Who would run in four years?............... JEBB BUSH?!?!

If you haven't read AKMuckrakers blog about Palin, here it is. She may be a joke as a VP pick, but we can't take any chances that this stunt will work. Send it to your friends and every news organization you can think of. There's only 2 months left, spread the word.

Her main "executive" experience was as a part-time mayor of a tiny town of 5500 people and only 746 homes hooked up to the central water system.

The job descriptions manual for the mayor shows the 2 main duties are (1) to preside over the meetings but not vote unless there's a tie and (2) ceremonial events, such as heading the Christmas decorations committee for her village.

She left the finances of her town in tatters when she moved on in 2002. She pushed hard for the town to build a hyper-expensive sports complex. But she screwed the process up badly. Instead of buying the land for the complex when it was offered, her administration allowed a developer to snap it up. Then the town tried to seize the land through eminent domain. In the end, what with court costs the town paid at least $ 1.7 million for land it could have bought for less than one tenth that sum. For this incompetence, her previous town is still paying a steep price: higher taxes and cutbacks in services.

Did anyone on their campaign actually bother to do their homework????

Alaska has almost as many people as Delaware and Amtrak Joe has a lower approval.
Alaska is loaded with natural resources critical to the USA.
Delaware is a sand bar with industry and a multiple plagiarist senator.

The People That McCain Owes Alegence To
Is John McCain in the pocket of oil companies?
Is John McCain in the pocket of insurance companies?
Is john McCain in the pocket of pharmaceutical companies?
Is McCain in the pocket of the mortgage companies?
Is McCain in the pocket of the banking industry?
Here is a list of lobbyists and employees of major companies working in major positions in the McCain campaign. It will answer any questions you might have about the people who are advising and influencing him.

For the complete quote ...

"As for that VP talk all the time, I"ll tell you, I still can"t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I"m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we"re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question."

I tell you, you donkeys are really some s-limy characters.

And you my friend cannot see the problem inherent in her statement. Calling Dems slimy with the people your party has in prison or should be in prison is really rich!

No BLAZE of GLORY here. The Republicans just CUT and RAN! Recognize THE END!
For all the football fans that have used the analogy of the pick being a HAIL MARY, I think the pick is more like a QUICK KICK (punting on 3rd down) from deep on your side of the field.

I am sure we never knew what would mark the official DEATH of the Republican brand. Well, folks, I THINK WE JUST WITNESSED IT. (Play Taps here) Bow your head for a MOMENT of SILENCE

Ms Palin don't you worry. Your boss really doesn't hold the VP position in high regard. He will be looking to you to attend funerals in his behalf and to make sure the grim reaper isn't nearby.
