Palin: Hillary Clinton's "Whining" Turned Me Off

Newsweek:

When Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin arrived backstage for our NEWSWEEK Women & Leadership Event in Los Angeles last March, John McCain had just wrapped up the GOP nomination. Palin had yet to endorse McCain--she liked Mitt Romney--and as we waited in the green room, I urged her to "feel free" to make some news on stage. She grinned broadly--looking back, I guess it was a grin of the Cheshire Cat variety--and thanked me for the offer.

Once onstage, together with Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Palin talked about what women expect from women leaders; how she took charge in Alaska during a political scandal that threatened to unseat the state's entire Republican power structure, and her feelings about Sen. Hillary Clinton. (She said she felt kind of bad she couldn't support a woman, but she didn't like Clinton's "whining.")

I'll hold her you cut her. lol Better cut it out (no pun intended) somewhere there's a line where this becomes criminal.

I think we were put off long before the whining started.

Sorry, still not convinced this thing wasn't cooked up by HRC and McCain. It's all too neat. Great speeches last week by Hill and Bill, even convincing. But it's not like them to give up so easily and their associates are still making nice with Fox News. Ferraro even had nice things to say about Palin. Are they that out of step with the Clintons? Hmmm... Also, I'm starting to hear McCain may only run for one term and I doubt Palin would be a serious candidate for 2012. There's also that Mark Penn connection with McCain too.
I felt that glow after last week's convention like everyone else, and appreciate and believe there will be more unity. Didn't want to express anything negative, but I think it's unwise to overlook somethings.

This lady, Sarah Palin, was quoted as saying that she"felt kind of bad that she couldn't support a woman", and at the same time she didn't like "Clinton's whining"
I am a woman but i find it difficult to support this lady based on the fact she denied a fellow woman her support at the time it was most needed to shatter the glass ceiling instead of making simple 18 million cracks.
This lady stood against everything women of this great country had fought for and still fighting for.
To say the least, she has no shame to ask for women support on the national television when she knew fully well that she went awol on every women issues, and most recently during the Democratic Primary when Hillary was soldering against the "ol' boy network". Had she brought the Executive power of office to bear on the side of Hillary, we may certianly not be talking about 18 million cracks but a total shatter of the "hard glass ceiling" if I may borrwo that phrase from her.
Above all I am surprise that McCain chose a stunch Obama supporter as a running mate.

Let's see Hillary got 18 million votes from men and women Vs. Palin 180,000 to be a Governor!
This pick by 'Same is strictly to fire-up the Religious-Right so they will actually go vote, it wasn't about Country-first, it's about Pandering-First

If I was Hillary I'd be offended that she thinks she's is even in Hillary's league!

Hey, but 80% of those 180,000 also give her "the highest approval rating in the COUNTRY", so don't knock the woman's HIGH credentials to be a heartbeat away from being Pres please, for the GOP's sake!

Why? ONE REASON - because McCain HAS NO GROUND GAME. He has no GOTV [get out the vote]. The GOTV of the Republican Party - the callers and the door knockers and kitchen table house party people - are the right wing of the Christian Evangelicals. These people never much liked McCain, and MCCain has been courting them for 2 years. This pick is his last, desparate Hail Mary attempt to win the Christian Right, because he's got no ground game without them. Obama's got ground game. Like nobodies business. College kids, minorites, union workers, white working class people with sense. Obama didn't capitulate to the political left of his party [as McCain has to the Right wing], but instead has taken stands that reflect midwestern common sense values - on American power and economic rebuilding, on security with Fisa, on the 2nd Amendment, on rape and the death penalty, on personal responsibility, and on low taxes.

So no, Palin shouldn't be Vice-President. She's a political pick because the right-wing's not happy with the part of Mac the rest of us once liked. (The maverick part he let loose in the wild somewhere last year). So this was a political choice, and a poor one. The choice was to finally and fully capitulate to the right, and hope a few leftover Clinton PUMAs would cover him as if he were tryng to get the Clinton vote (which is just laughable with this choice). To put himself before his country (and

If McCain was trying to win Hillary votes, he'd have gone with Snowe or Hutchison. This isn't aimed at Hillary folks - hardworking women willing to speak truth to power, overlooked for some younger man whom they have to train for a job that should be theirs. That's NOT this woman. Palin's the one the old-boy boss feels comfortable around, not particularly because she's a hard-charger [which Palin isn't] but because it makes him feel strong and assured. See, if they were aiming for Hillary support, they'd NEVER have made this choice, because that woman was the woman that drove REAL strong women crazy; for whom they had no animosity but little pity, either. No this isn't a pick too move Hillary voters - unless Mac's a complete idiot and surrounded by complete idiots. This is McCain's clear and full-throated capitulation to the Christian right. while pretending to be a play for feminists. The pretense is laughable: the woman to the right of Bush on choice (pregnant by rape by a family member? Sucks for you), believes in creation in the schools, doesn't believe in humans are at all responsible for global warming, is against gay rights, is not reformer (she was FOR the bridge to nowhere McCain so decried, both in her campaign and when she cancelled it because the government wouldn't pony up my tax dollars), has called Hllary a whiner, has ZERO national or international experience, This woman is a final repudiation of his maverick image.

The only thing Palin and Senator Clinton share is gender.

Politically, they would be fighting each other. They would not be on the same side.

Palin is anti choice, Hillary pro choice
Palin market based health care, Hillary universal health care
Palin CONSERVATIVE justices, Hillary LIBERAL justices

McCain insults women to think they will vote purely on gender and they won't fall for it.

DaOne,

I see by your profile that you are a Obama Supporter who has been bashing Hilllary Clinton for some months now, calling her Shrillary and such. I wanted to let you know it does my PUMA heart good to see how upset you and the other Obamabots are over Governor Sarah Palin.

Keep those posts comming. Show how nasty and sexist you all really are.

Maybe the "sexism" you talk about comes from Gov. Palin who decried Hillary's charges of sexism as "whining".

Sorry t r o l l , you lose.

I dont like rumors like that. Did not like the one about Edwards either but look what happened..

But what woman in her last weeks of Pregnancy who wants to have her child in Alaska, then takes an 11 hour flight to Texas for a meeting. Has her water break, Comes back and gives a speech, then takes the11 hour flight back to Alaska? Are pregnant woman in their last weeks so supposed to be flying?

Why would she hide the fact she was pregant for 7 months? Why would she not be happy to share this information?

Nothing showing at 7 months? And her daughter at the same time missing from school... It is sort of like Edwards just happen to be visiting the Hotel!

There are questions here.. some go beyond even if its her daughters child... The behavior is somewhat strange. If your going to have a child its not like people are not going to find out.. so why the hiding in the first place?

Cant blame DEMs for this rumor, it comes from her home town.

You must be desperate for dirt on Palin to try to liken the protection and adoption of a child to a married man have an affair on his ailing wife. Scum monger, you better find out if it is even true before you try to sell that one.

Her voice is that of a banshi...screeching into the night. Her husband must wear ear plugs.

How dare she even imagine herself to be like Hillary Clinton? I did not vote for for Hill, but I will be the first to defend her from the likes of this lackluster candidate.

Hillary is an attorney, an US Senator, a former First Lady...a TRUE advocate for women's rights.

Palin is a poor excuse for a woman hidden behind her believed beauty. "Another Maverick" McSame says....I don't think so. Another desire for her by he perhaps.

She believes a raped woman should be obligated to continue with the subsequent pregnancy to term. She believes creationism should be taught in schools. She believes Alaska is open for drilling, so her constituents may benefit by profit checks being distributed.

Hey Sarah, Alaska is part of my country too...I don't want any more drilling going on. And FGS, stop shooting the moose!

I so hope that the first time Palin cites Hilalry in the debate that Biden goes Lloyd bentsen on her and says something like “I know Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton is a friend of mine, and governor, you’re no Hillary Clinton.”
10:01 PM on 08/30/2008
Oh please! Help all of us in Alaska. Take this woman off our hands. The career of our fair Govenor. Wasilla, well its got 8000 people who noticed? Then Stevens shows up with her. He'd be endorsing her now, but he's really busy getting ready for his indictment. Two of our public servants, twenty years against her two, have lost their jobs because of a custody suit that her sister was having. You say abuse of executive priveege? I say tomato. Its not important, what is, is this. All of us in Alaska will support this nomination, it has caused her to leave the state. Were sorry for the rest of you, but please try to think of the well being of your northern friends.
