The AP reports on McCain and Palin hitting the trail in Pennsylvania:

McCain and Palin made a morning stop at Tom's Diner in Pittsburgh's trendy Southside neighborhood. The running mates, with spouses in tow, greeted patrons and posed for pictures. Palin's daughters Willow and Piper were also on hand, with Willow carrying Palin's 4-month old son, Trig.

The first-term Alaska governor told reporters she was having fun in her new role. "It's great to see another part of the country," she said. She also said she'd managed to get a little sleep during the night.

Question: When you guys see the McCain/Palin advertising, does anyone else see instead, MCCAIN/PAIN? Just thought I'd ask.

While outside Pittsburgh Palin congradulated the local people on their professional baseball and basketball teams. A. She was a former sports announcer, and B. the Pirates stink and no basketball team even exists in western PA.

A real local connection has been formed as the death from a thousand mistakes begins.

I wonder why Palin was not on any morning talk shows, she is the most qualified after all.

Seriously did someone blackmail McCain into this pick??? He must be regretting this by now. Everything Im seeing and reading is making her look like a very poor pick. Just look at his face in all these media events - even in People Magazine he looks like he's thinking 'dayum, i messed up!'

What do you expect? He's standing next to his WIFE. And he can't see Sara's butt.

My kids said something like that when they were seven and eleven. They even went to Canada!

I am very concerned that Sarah Palin only recently obtained a passport. Shouldn't our top leaders have some experience abroad? I am a very "middle" middle class high school teacher from the Midwest and even I have been to Russia (with my high school), Europe and Morocco. (vote for me - I am evidently qualified!) I could assume that Ms. Palin has been to Canada and Mexico (before the passport restrictions took affect...), but if this is the extent of her world travels, what does say about the candidate's world knowledge? Does she know the difference between Iraq and Iran? Sunni and Shiite? Arab and Iranian? Joe L. won't always be at McCain's side to correct him.
I do not believe in learning "on the go" about foreign policy, leaders, and critical world issues. Our leaders should be people who have studied political science at the university level or through actual training experiences, not at PTA meetings. Living next to Russia does not count, either. I live next to Canada, therefore I am qualified.(That makes 2 amazing qualifications so far, vote catherineku!)

I understand that George Bush did not have a valid passport upon entering the White House, and that he had only been abroad twice in his life. The man was rich and he barely explored the world he wished to dominate? Ms. Palin is the person who John McCain trusts to lead us in case of a tragic incident?

The Palin pick is an absurd political move to get Hillary Clinton voters to vote for McCain. I still can't believe they tried to hoodwink America with a gesture as transparent as this. It's joke just like John McCains entire campaign built upon his status as a one time POW. None of that qualfies him or Palin to occupy the Whitehouse. We have had enough of failed, phony leadership. Enough!

The duo of McCain/Palin visited our local diner (Toms) in Dormont PA which seats 36 patrons. When word of the visit spread two thirds of the diner filled with supporters wanting meet the two (not counting the two tables with regular customers). Word also ciculated that the duo might give a speech at the local firehall which holds sixty persons when the second fire truck is pulled forward. Atleast nine people at the diner offered to walk to the firehall to listen to the speech but is was called off due to less than stellar attendance.

Winning western PA twenty double egg breakfest specials at a time.

As Samantha Bee indicated on the Daily Show (best news show on tv) ...we are NOT voting for somebody just because they look like us...e.g. have a vagina.

John and CIndy's marriage is on the rocks. They can barely tolerate each other. Cindy deserves better. I think I'm in love with her.

Palin has no CREDENTIALS - forget "Experience."

Interesting how the GOP are twisting the 'experience' word & omitting the "Credentials" word.

She has no CREDENTIALS in dealing with:
* ethnic groups (there are none in Alaska)
* foreign policy
* national economics
* national border control
etc.

It will interesting to see if the media, in print & tv, spotlight on Palin's lack of credentials to be a heart beat away from a 72 year old President.

It's amusing to see that McCain has the b*lls to pick a woman as a running mate, when Obama didn't , even though a woman got as many votes as he did in the democratic primary. Palin makes this race interesting again. Will women vote republican just because a woman is running? The only people who think that are people who think African Americans would vote for another African American regardless of his/her policies.

If the Obama campaign wanted to reach out to women who lost hope in the democratic party during the primary, it would be as "outraged" at sexist media and supporter comments as they were about Madonna's slideshow. The Obama campaign has a "woman" problem, but it's not Palin.

It wasn't just a woman, it was a woman we all knew! do people really think we are this easily duped, we will vote for someone just because of their gender?? There is no comparison between Palin and Hillary, don't insult Hillary like that! This woman is the anti Hillary.. any woman stupid enough to vote for McCain just because he has a woman running mate.. well they are obviously the same people who gave us Bush for two terms.. look how well that worked out.
If you have a brain you won't vote for McCain!
