John McCain appeared on Fox News Sunday, with Chris Wallace, this morning. Wallace asked McCain if he could honestly say that Sarah Palin was the best person to put a heartbeat away from the presidency. McCain replied, "Oh, yeah. She's a partner and a soulmate." The remark is astonishing considering he had met Palin only once before he selected her as his vice presidential running mate.

I am new to this and an Independant. It depresses me to see so many ignorant, biased and inaccurant statements on this site. I had heard that the Huffington Post was exceedingly liberal in their thought process and now I see that is absolutely true. What is sad is the emotional tunnel vision apparent by so many of the comments.

Labeling others as "ignorant" when you enter a forum is a brilliant move.

Did anyone notice how McCain kept fiddling with his wedding ring during Mrs. Palin's VP announcement speech in Ohio? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKByFPy7-RU

Every time Mrs. Palin said something complementary about McCain he positively beamed. I kept thinking he looked besotted…

Whew! I feel SO much better now knowing they are “soul mates.” Apparently, the GOP vetting process is much deeper than I gave it credit for…

He sees her as his soul mate. Old Barbie better look out because there is a new Barbie in town. Remember, he was married the last time he decided he wanted a new beauty queen.

I find it interesting that McCain said the first time he met Palin he felt that she was his "soulmate". (The first time GWB met Putin, he said that he "looked into his eyes and got a sense of his soul". So how's Georgia -- the country, not the state -- workin' for ya, GOP?) Personally, I think McCain has "souled" America out!!!

Ah’ man, that is SO precious! John has found a (another) soulmate.

At first, it was called the STRAIGHT-TALK-EXPRESS.

Then it became, the DISORIENTED-EXPRESS.

Now, it's the STRAIGHT-JACKET-EXPRESS !!!

That man's brain is flying with only one engine.

this is just creepy. cindy mccain should be more worried about her marriage than decorating the white house.
01:20 PM on 09/03/2008
Of course, this is all planned.

Cindy does not mind it if her lunatic POW husband rubs his filthy parts all over another woman, just so long as she doesn't have to suffer thru it anymore.

What happened to the John McCain of 2000? Where has he gone, and why has he caved to
the "agents of intolerance, that he once railed against? The John McCain we now see is
sad, even his body language is sad, and it has nothing to do with his age.
How could John McCain pick this woman? It is stunning and staggering that he would pick
this woman as his Vice President? Does anyone believe John McCain thinks this woman is
qualified? DId he really think that Hillary Clinton's supporters who are the polar opposite of Palin,
would vote for her? Did he do this to get the "blessing" of the bible thumpers? WIth this selection,
John McCain hands the Presidency to Obama - hands down. What happened to that maverick?
What happened to John McCain? The decision to pick Palin, will go down as the worse decision
since Danny The Quail. It is astonishing, and on some many levels really sad.
02:48 PM on 09/01/2008
It IS sad, indeed - BUT - could it be that he was NEVER really a "MAVERICK"?
05:08 PM on 09/01/2008
I watched him for 20 years in Arizona - I never knew why the media tagged him with the name. Even if he was a "maverick" once upon a time - why in the world the media would continue this "nickname" is beyond me. But then again his VP choice was pretty "mavrickish"! Now we'll have to wait and see how he gets out of this one!

You know, people can get on line and make all the snide and pithy remarks they want -- myself included -- but if we want to assure the future of this country, we had better make sure we do all that we can as individuals to make sure Obama is elected. That means talking to people about the issues instead of the hype make sure you take at least one person in to register and then on November 4th take one person with you to vote.

Very GOOD suggestion . . .

By the way, there are all kinds of internet rumors that Sarah Palin's 5th child is really her daughter's. In the wake of these rumors, the McCain campaign has just announced that Bristol Palin is pregnant right now...adding fuel to the fire.
01:31 PM on 09/01/2008
Is it just a coincidence that

* John McCain's first "soulmate", Carol Shepp McCain, was a model
* John McCain's second "soulmate", Cindy Hensley McCain, was a rodeo queen
* John McCain's third "soulmate", Sara Palin, was a model

John McCain has often been described as making decisions based on "gut". He is also known to be prone to having "senior moments of confusion. I wonder if he got his body parts confused when he was making this decision about choosing a running mate?

there is a video on youtube that shows McCain, apparently, staring at Sarah's breasts and twirling his wedding ring while she speaks.

"Soulmate"? Where can I vomit? Isn't his spouse, Cindy, supposed to be his soulmate?

As for the daughter's pregnancy and whether the new baby is Palin's or not -- while I think it is not fair to dump on some kid who never asked to be in the public eye, I can't help but think how the Republicans would play it up if one of Obama's kids got pregant outside of marriage, and I also can't help forget how they dumped on Chelsea Clinton when she was a child in the White House -- McCain leading the way with insults.

As for "Daily Kos," everyone knows it's a liberal blog, not a supposed "fair and balanced" news source, and "Daily Kos" reported that Palin's fifth child might be her daughter's child as a "rumor," not fact. And turns out that part of the story is correct -- the kid is pregnant and Palin didn't admit to it until she was obviously pressured to do so.

And if anyone expects "Daily Kos" to retract its story, I expect Fox News, CNN, etc. to retract all the lies they've spewed in defense of the Republicans for the last ten years.

Poor John. He's forgotten that he sold his soul to George!
