So maybe saying nice things about Hillary Clinton at a Republican rally isn't such a good idea.

John McCain's new vice presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, acknowledged the New York senator on Saturday when reflecting on her new found role as a national candidate.

The reaction from a large chunk of the audience: boos.

I hope every disgruntled Hillary supporter sees this!
Yeah, there's a lotta of love here for Hillary and her supporters.
IMO, they would be very foolish to support McCain....talk about a slap in the face to Hillary!

I'm suprise I thought many of them voted for Hilary. Now they are booing when her name is mentioned. She won so many of them in PA and Ohio. Maybe these folks didnt get the memo. One of the reasons why I did not want Hilary as VP was because there would be too much identity politics on the ticket the election would just get reduce to distractions like identity rather than the issues that affect voters. If its one thing I will say about Obama he doesnt focus on identity politics like Hilary does and I would bet Sarah Palin will do. See rethuglicans watch and saw how when women complain and boo hoo to the media or when they percieve that the media is being unfair to them it helps rally other women and they all vote for the woman in a form of sisterhood. I expect to see republicans play all the Hilary cards that they can. I guess they figured it weakened Obama and if they can keep it up it might weaken him even further and John McCain will be the President.

I notice that the media is already singing Palin's praises they are careful since what happened with Hilary so this weapon actually may not work. If anyone think that Palin was chosen because Republicans have a high view of women well just call me the brand new owner of the Brookly bridge. This woman is merely a tool.

What I would like to know is, what do the Republican's have against education? She has a BA in journalism. For the Republican's singing her praises, that is enough for this job? Bush was a poor student. McCain graduated at the bottom of his class. McCain voted against giving soldiers a college education in the GI bill. Bush screws up the entire country's educational system with the frustrating and ineffective No Child Left Behind program. It is almost like they want the masses to be dumb. Where's M. Moore? I smell a conspiracy!

The right wing owned radio has conned listeners to believe that educated people are elitist, latte drinking, out of touch with ordinary people. When really they are city engineers, accountants, teachers, nurses, school boards, ordinary people in any city in america. So they don't value education, they frown on it because also they don't have one so they have no idea what it is to have one. It's really sad that education has been treated this way in this country by these people.

Republicans are clearly against education because if the masses were educated, then it would be harder for them to get away with their crap. Only a quarter of Americans get a college degree. It's obviously working! Why else would poor or working class people continue to vote along that party line? And they are the ones who are suffering the WORST as a result of their party being in office. It's a damn shame.

Well, if she keeps bringing up Hillary and Hillary continues to receive boos then those Hillary supporters might just be offended. Why vote for a candidate when his supporters diss Hill's supporters

Underestimate if you will but one poll has mcCain/Palim up 2 point nationally(ZOGBY) (not that NAT polls matter but we'll see what angry supporters in OH and PN).

I know peopela re afraid to say it because they dont want to be called sexist but lets not pretend middle aged women are exactly the most informed and sophisticated voters in the world. Most of them, once agina lets be honest, only voted for HIllary because thy, "want to see a woman in the white house; it's our turn."

So dont be surprised if a few weeks from now after people get the "Mother of 5" song and dance stomped into their heads they wont fall for it hook line and sinker. Are American voters really that smart? NO...most middle aged white women (and men) are/were looking for any little excuse not to vote for Obama. I think they jus got it.

It's one thing to tell a pollster you are "Ready" for a blaclk candidate and it's not about gender. It's another thing to be behind closed curtains and pull the lever.

INFORMED?
SOPHISTICATED?
MOST OF THEM?

I don't know where you live, I don't know what you think middle aged is, and I don't know how many "middle aged" women you know but apparently I don't know any that resemble the stereotype you are pushing as somehow an "honest" assessment.

The age range O is having trouble with is the 30 to 49 group.
to me 30 is not middle aged and 49 is just entering it.--Unless you are a kid and it seems very far away.
And of course, with pronouncements like this it is apparent you are a kid.

The middle aged women I know were the women in the trenches marching in protest against the Viet Nam war, marching, demonstrating, practicing civil disobedience in support of civil rights, demonstrated for reproductive rights and the ERA and equality for all people, fair and equal wages not just for women but for minorities that also didn't get paid as much as white men.

The middle aged women I know are the women that made this election possible and I assure you we are very aware of the issues, we are very informed, engaged and active- certainly more than almost anyone I ever read on Huffington Post comments. I'm always taken aback at how ill informed the "voters" here are and think hating one candidate over another is somehow being politically engaged.

The middle aged women I know-- and lets be honest here- 60 is the new 40- are intelligent AND smart, (yeah, there is a difference) hip, interesting, challenging, curious, progressive- in fact I'd say more liberal than what I read here and more liberal than Obama and Biden.

Meanwhile, the Gallup daily tracking poll shows good news for Obama, following the close of the Democratic National Convention and his high-profile nomination acceptance speech Thursday.

The poll, taken from Wednesday to Friday, showed Obama leading McCain by 49 percent to 41 percent for the second day in a row " a campaign high for him.

And that's the key. The polls do not matter. Not only that, no one really knows who these pollsters are, where they are and what they're asking. The pollsters are the great political mystery. 38,000,000 people (actually much more) watched the speech of Barack Obama and even the critics agreed that it was forceful and brilliant. The poll numbers had to increase dramatically. Also, remember when he had the 8 point lead reported yesterday, it was based upon an increase prior to the convention.

Remember, the pollsters only go to certain segments of society and never reflect the voices of the youth or minorities.

Also "likely" voters skew against new registers, who are largely Democrats.

Right. And esp. true this election...with so many people having done away with their land lines. If anything the polls would be skewed in Obama's favor due to this. After all, it is going to be the older people who still have land lines (and who still answer without screening).

but I am so afraid of getting optimistic. I just don't trust anything anymore.

If PUMA's members were so numerous, they would have paid HRC's Debt...
But she still has that debt, meaning.......
I know that they have no self esteem because they are not able to defend HRC that Palin did insult
Imagine if Obama had said that Hrc was a whiner!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you know what the debt is now. I think a lot of Obama supporters donated to her after she and Bill spoke. I would imagine at least a dent was put in the debt. Personally, I was grateful for their speeches. I thought they were sincere. Let's give t hem the benefit of the doubt. They have to live in the US too, and there is no way they want to see all they've worked for go down the toilet with McCain/Palin presidency.

BTW, with all of the concern over the amount of time given the Clintons and the roll call vote. It all went really well. I found the roll call a great moment when IL yielded first, then later NY yielded to IL and IL in turn yielded to NY. It was a lot of ceremony, but it gave Hillary the moment. She and Bill did exactly the right things and said all of the right things. Let's move on. The Clintons are Dem and the Rep have no love for them as can be seen by the booing at the speech. We all know what they really think of Hillary and her issues. If you are a Hillary supporter, remember that.

Where is Hillary. Why hasn't she been on the MSM with her opinion of this pick, especially since the Palin keeps mentioning her name every day and using her line.

loria, we have moved on, and I believe Avembe has too. He/she's just talking about the so called die-hard pumas, who never even contributed to Hill's debt, yet say they support her.
BTW, I donated to Hillary too after the convention. Both Clintons were fantastic, nobody could've asked for more. The party's united.
The division was all a media hype, reinforced by the few pumas looking for their 15 minutes on TV.
