NY Times:

Advisers to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said on Sunday that Senator John McCain's selection of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate would lead to a greater role for Mrs. Clinton as she campaigned this fall on behalf of her former rival, Senator Barack Obama.

Mrs. Clinton's friends said she was galled that Ms. Palin might try to capitalize on a movement that Mrs. Clinton, of New York, built among women in the primaries. And Democrats used strong words on Sunday to rebut the notion: Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts said that women would not be "seduced" by the Republican ticket, and Guy Cecil, the former political director of Mrs. Clinton's campaign, said it was "insulting" for Republicans to compare Ms. Palin to Mrs. Clinton.

Nevertheless, Clinton advisers said they expected that a bloc of her female supporters would give Mr. McCain a second look because of Ms. Palin, and that Mrs. Clinton was probably Mr. Obama's best weapon in response. But asked if the Palin pick would lead to a new political marriage between Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton, a senior Clinton adviser, Ann Lewis, said: "Not a political marriage. She is not on the ticket. Senator Obama chose Joe Biden as his running mate. Hillary will do what she can to help."

The real oops in this ticket is McCain, not Sarah Palin. She's got more guts than McCain could hope for. Maybe that's why he looked at her and said: "She's my soulmate." I'm starting to believe he meant it. Make no mistake there is no way I could vote for this ticket. I support Obama 1000%. If Hillary can do something meaningfully to stop the growing momentum of the McCain-Palin Juggernaut, I say give Hillary anything she wants. She will have earned it. And mind you I can't abide HRC or Bubba.

Neocon conservatives have had their time. 8 years of Ronald Reagan and his voodoo trickle down supply side economics. 4 years of George H. Bush 1000 points of light followed by taxes after we read his lips, no taxes. 8 years of Bush-Cheney world wars and economic dysfunction. Enough is enough.

The fight Hillary must take to the battleground is not who is the better woman or the better historical candidate or who tells the better story, but which ticket will protect the interests of women and families. This should be right up Hillary's alley.

Hillary, stand up and be counted. Obama will make room for you.

No way. No how. No McCain. Obama-Biden 08. La lucha continua...

If she were REALLY concerned about the direction of the country at this time when we are in such dire need and the issues democrats have fought so hard for, she would come out swinging... so hard McGames would be sorry he'd even attempted to not only insult and underestimate the intelligence of women, but of running at all. She'd "throw the kichen sink" which we all know she's quite capable of doing. I hope she does the right thing.

Amen. It is an absolute insult to Hillary Clinton for the Repugs to even THINK they can come in and steal anything from Mrs. Clinton. When Hillary is finished with her - she will understand what it means to be Vetted!. If there is going to be a Female President - it will be President Hillary Clinton - Obama will be sure to hand it off to Clinton like a cakewalk! Remember, the first Female President of the U.S. will be Hillary Clinton. Just wait people, Hillary just walking out on the stump will change this race to a cakewalk! No Palin theft there!

Historically Presidential candidates have always been compared to each other and VP's have always been compared to each other. So I'm still scratching my head on why they picked a Palin to go against a Biden?!??

Hillary better make toast of Sarah Palin or she will be giving up her next Presidential Race to this Incumbant V.P. I want to see Hillary as Attorney General. She can put Rove and Co. in a 10 x 10 public housing unit with bars. Go out and show the world that Palin is no Clinton.

Hillary based so much of her campaign on the gender pander. Now that the repubs have co-opted the play, she's miffed.

Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

Hillary "played the card". NOW she has no choice but to tell America why she is NOT and will NEVER be Sarah Palin.

Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton & their PUMA supporters need to learn to to be CAREFUL for what one prays.

If you are talking about "18 million cracks", she spoke the truth. (17.8 actually) That is not playing a card. Thank God she will never be a Sarah Palin! What did the PUMAS pray for? Truth from the media and the DNC?

I hope Palin keeps talking about Hillary, just highlights her "rookie-ness". Debbie Shultz on CNN said the other day "I know Sen. Hillary Clinton, and Ms. Palin is no Hillary Clinton" -- wise as anchor said well you know that line has been used before, Debbie replied yeah, and it's still a good one. I'm not surprised Hillary would take offense as well she should. I'm hope it's fired her up, take her down Hillary!

Palin is not responsible for the mistakes of her daughter and the choice of a seventeen y/o girl to have sex is hardly news.

She's responsible for condemning birth control, and that is a very irresponsible way to teach and protect a young girl.

For crying out loud they live in Alaska. There are way more men there than women and in winter there's not much to do.

I question this woman's judgment, and wonder if she has her head on straight.

Send her back to Alaska on a one-way ticket, nooooooooooooow.

Let your usual voters decide how "energized" they are going to be for Palin and her family.

Biden's "Lloyd Bentsen-Dan Quayle" line in the VP debate this fall: "I know Hillary Clinton, I served with Hillary Clinton, Governor Palin, you're no Hillary Clinton". Then FIreworks go off.

Yes! That line alone would be the greatest LINE that could be delivered next week! Do an AD
