The video was not simply taken down. There is a new video presented as Obama blog #16, pretending to be the original. It is similar in content, but much more coherent. It appears Mr. Combs is trying to cover up his original, embarrasing words with new ones pretending to be the same. A farce.

It was Diddy that asked if Alaska had crack or crime. His statement suggested that he did not believe Palin was qualified because you have to have crack in your state.
I will say it was a unique attack even if it was irrelevant.
Diddy did seem drunk, high or suffering from a possible head injury in the video.

Reading these comments it is very clear to me that racism is alive and well. People are hatin on this black man because he's wealthy and he's got an opinion. Did anybody see that country cracker Fred Thompson mar the English language to bits last night? Well, he was a legit contender for President. And this guy we got in office? No. It just raises questions about the constituency the Republicans' coalition represents. To pick someone from a state that has a minimal black constituency and align her with a candidate who until 1980 refused to see the merit in supporting MLK's birthday as a national holiday says to me that black issues and inner city issues are not only beyond the scope of their thinking but also beyond the horizons of their interests or concerns. That's what's up.

The reclaiming of language is one of the first steps in marking out a clearly defined culture for a community. To suggest that Diddy's colloquialism implies lack of education is a cultural blindness. He has appropriated a European language - a language that was forced upon African slaves who were forced to live in this country - and crafted it to represent his own community. I would be lying if part of the urban center's colloquialism does not stem from the fact that black neighborhoods and schools from Jim Crow until today suffer a deficit in education equality. That is part of the reason that "ghetto" language or hip-hop culture has crafted the language the way it has. But to suggest that Diddy's colloquialism - a man who no doubt has sat in board rooms with some of the leading executives in this country and has gotten what he wants - is strictly a result of someone being dumb or ignorant shows a lack of knowledge about a community and it's culture and also underlies a creeping prejudice. This is academic. Research it.

Maybe I was too hasty in calling the political blatherings of Hollywood party girls like Lindsay Lohan about as worthless as what you hear on rightwing talk radio.
