As network anchors head to St. Paul after covering Hurricane Gustav from the Gulf Region, MSNBC announced that Keith Olbermann will remain in New York to await the next hurricane (Hanna):

One person not returning from his Hurricane Gustav coverage location will be MSNBC's Keith Olbermann. Olbermann led coverage last night from New York, and will now co-anchor prime time convention coverage from MSNBC HQ with Chris Matthews at the RNC.

An MSNBC spokesperson tells TVNewser, "Since the next hurricane may hit on Thursday night, Keith will remain in New York. But, he'll co-anchor with Chris who will be on our Rice Park set."

MSNBC tells the Huffington Post, "Keith has anchored numerous breaking news stories over the past five years, including coverage of Katrina."

On Friday, the New York Post's Page Six reported that Olbermann is increasingly worried about his security, and refused to attend the RNC in St. Paul unless MSNBC offered him a more secure location to broadcast from:

MSNBC's increasingly paranoid Keith Olbermann is threatening to quit unless his bosses beef up his security, sources say.

Olbermann - upset to be anchoring at the Democratic National Convention from an outdoor set near Denver's train station - "announced that his bosses [had] better find a more secure location for him to broadcast from at the Republican National Convention [in St. Paul, Minn.] or he's not going," one insider said. "He thinks someone will assassinate him." MSNBC had no comment.

Even before he left New York, the biggest mouth at MSNBC was worried about his safety. When a car was late to take him to the airport, Olbermann threatened via e-mail to stay home, another insider told Page Six. The blowhard whined to producers, "I could have been attacked on the street."

Broadcasting & Cable's Marisa Guthrie reported Monday that NBC News President Steve Capus said not to read anything into Olbermann's presence in New York:

Perhaps conspiracy theorists could be excused for reading something into NBC News' decision to redirect Olbermann from St. Paul back to New York for the Republican National Convention this week.

"You shouldn't read anything into that," said Steve Capus, president of NBC News.

Chief White House correspondent David Gregory will take Olbermann's place at the anchor desk with Matthews during the abbreviated convention.

Olbermann is in New York to help direct the network's coverage of Hurricane Gustav, explained Capus.

"Keith is particularly strong at being the quarterback for this kind of coverage and that's why we're pulling him back."

Last week, during the network's DNC coverage, Olbermann was at the center of three on-air fights between MSNBC talent.

WTF???? NYT broke this story this morning... and what's with the smear in the yellow boxes? In Huff?? They are dislodging the strongest liberal voice and one with terrific ratings. That's MY voice and along with Maddow, the only decent commentary on cable. This needs a better explanation... or do I already understand too well?

FREE ENERGY Keith Olberman may prefer to look into why we are not able to have the privilege of FREE ENERGY

I have included the website of a Utube video as shown on Sky news Australia. The inventors on this website are not the only people who have managed to realise Nikola Tesla's invention. If you are interested in the zero point energy I reccommend Thomas Reardon USA (often maligned in the internet- however in my opinion he has the intregrity of Paul Skinner as I have observed in the BBC interviews) to enlighten the relaity of this reality.

http://www.free-energy-info.co.uk/

Australian race car driver, Peter Brock, who died from a freak accident has developed a polarisor which enables a huge reduction in G force on vehicles cornering and stopping... information GMH has secured...

http://forums.thescene.com.au/forums/t/33313.aspx

I have also sent this information to Al Fayed and Mahindra Motors in India, Rio Tinto Chairman Paul Skinner and Prince Charles and if I could find Carlos Ghosn (Nissan Motors ) I would also send this to him

I am only hopeful that someone will be able to investigate why and how we are not able to be afforded this amazing energy source.

Warm regards and many thanks
Jane

Everybody...LEAVE Keith Olbermann alone...to do his job. He is the GREATEST and has a right to expect excellent security with all of the kooks out there...particularly right-wing nutheads.

Why does it seem that very few postings reflect a desire to debate concepts and ideas. Mostly keep it simple and agree with me. That is a real fromular for bi-partisian disucssion, but that does not appear to be the purpose of this site. This is Keith's chior/

Yes, Edward Murrow would be SO proud of a journalist too SCARED to go anywhere near a political convention OR a hurricane -- both of which he was supposedly covering.

O'Rielly showed up at the Dem convention and looked the loons in the eyes. He even went to an Obama speech and confronted Obama about going on the Factor. Maybe Gov Palin can give him some advice on how to grow uh... guts. Poor little keithie is afraid.. Come on keith, man up. What about your cohorts that cover the Iraq war. Even little katie crossed the pond. I hear that the only big thing about keith is his mouth. But seriously, one can not be afraid of their shadow. I know that keith enjoys the bully pulpit, as does O'Rielly. We expect Palin to face her critics, as she should. Please keith go the convention and show them that your are not a coward.

I do not blame him.

The Repubs & their media - specifically, OReilly & Limbaugh & Dobson & Coulter - are known to be exceptionally provocative and trying to egg on their followers. Some of them are bound to get violent.

Some one needs to keep him safe.. If someone actually connected with a punch, it might seriously hurt the poor "boy". He is so like the big mouth wimp that we had in our neighborhood growing up, he would stand behind his momma`s skirt to call you names. Real Brave Keith....

Wonder what opinion Dan Rather has of Olberman... Yes reporting on tropical depressions is vital.

Clarification - I'm sorry that most Presidential Assasination attempts have been against Conservatives because that goes against EVERYTHING that Liberals stand for!

I wouldn't call JFK a conservative, and he's the only President who has been assassinated in the last century. Get your facts straight, fella. Reagan and Ford were stalked by deranged people and it had nothing to do with political affiliations.

Vote for your white brethren, your side is going to lose in November big time. No second chances for a bunch of liars and hypocrites.

I'm glad to hear NBC say that Keith is being held back for a higher purpose. That said, I've been concerned this week that he was being reigned in or punished for his open mic in-fighting comments highlighted both here and on John Stewart's Daily Show. I believe the leaks that Keith is concerned about his safety in public. He said as much to Chris Mathews last week when Mathews was talking about being recognized on the street. Keith said, and I'm paraphrazing here..."That may be a good thing for you Chris, but it scares the Hell out of me!" It would be a true American tradgedy for Keith's voice to be silenced should he quit. NBC - Give the man what he wants!!! And Keith? I hope it gives you just a little piece of mind to be reminded that, (and I'm truly sorry to say this), most Presidential assasination attempts have been against Conservatives, not Liberals.

Come on, Page Six is owned by Murdoch and is famously "at war' with Olbermann. They continue to print lies about him day after day...has to do with his ongoing riff with O'Really.

IN any event, I don't believe ANYTHING that Page Six prints and you would be better off if you take that tact as well.
