A group of gay and lesbian Republicans has traveled to the site of the GOP convention this week to help convince its party that it is time to stop being on the "wrong side" of the same-sex marriage issue.

"Clearly, the tide is turning," said Scott Tucker, communications director for the Log Cabin Republicans. "It's important for the Republican Party to be inclusive on this issue, because we are risk of being on the wrong side of history."

Although the group's president, Patrick Sammon, acknowledges that few politicians in either party support "marriage equality," as the group dubs the same-sex marriage issue, "it's clear momentum is on our side."

Note to gay Republicans: Your party's base hates you. No, really, they hate you. Not dislike, hate. Most of them want to see you literally burn in hell for all eternity. The ones that don't want to shame you into staying closeted permanently. Hope the tax cut was worth it.

As a gay man, I could not for the life of me understand how in the hell these idiots are even out there. They don't realize that if same-sex unions were to become federally recognized, they would be paying less in income taxes than they do by being forced to file single. Of course the majority of these "Log Cabin Republicans" are also warmongering hawks which could explain their oxymoronicism (yes I know that is not a word, but the only one I could come up with.)

Eventually they will realize (hopefully) that they have been on the wrong side of the aisle since it is they who have been hindering the Democrats in conjunction with the gay community to get through equal protection rights for the gay community. They fail to recognize that it is the Democrats who have been introducing the legislation that protects the gay community from the tyranny of the government. They fail to recognize tht it is the Republicans who have always blocked this type of legislation.

Um, gay republicans? Is that not a bit like Jewish Nazis?

Gay Republicans are on the wrong side of history...and out of touch with reality. Self-loathing is so not pretty.

Log Cabin Republicans: fools so happy about their tax breaks that they forget they are standing in line for the Riech Wing Gas Chamber.

Give it up.

With the notable exception of the Civil War, the GOP has rarely been on the right side of history; it's who they are.

I've got nothing against gay people, but doesn't it strike most people a bit odd that there would be any gay organization clamoring to be accepted as Republicans? Haven't they figured it out yet? They'll NEVER accept you, except to use as votes, like the GOP uses the Christian right, who apparently have only partially figured out they've been used and abused all these years.

Methinks they need to change parties, or start their own. They're flogging a dead horse, there.

"we are risk of being on the wrong side of history"? I think that happened quite some years ago.

I can't for the life of me figure out what kind of self loathing individual it takes to be a gay male & support Republican politics. Stand up for yourselves already!!! Be who you are & I promise there are people in this world who will love & respect you for that...

To Republicans, hypocrisy and denial are art forms.

Is this guy crazy?? The republicans are outright homophobic at every level. Their platforms believes that gays and lesbians should be openly discriminated against. Being a gay republicans is stranger then being a black republican. Wake up! The republican party only represents rich white people and/or religious fanatics.

The extreme right will be bitting his head off with asking them to soften their stance on their bs morality that they want to teach us.
