Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan took MSNBC's infighting into Round 5 Thursday afternoon on "Hardball."

When Buchanan mentioned how America should be proud of Sarah Palin as a woman, Matthews asked, "When did you become Dr. Phil?"

"After weeks of crocodile tears over Hillary Clinton, now you've become the foster father of all women politicians," he continued.

Matthews then demanded that Buchanan name a single out-of-line question Palin had received, reminding him of the show's name. When Buchanan cited questions about Palin's family life, Matthews lit up over the Republican right's treatment of the Clinton family life, and a colorful argument ensued.

"What's your problem with strong women, buddy?" Buchanan asked. "The MS in MSNBC should not stand for misogyny."

Kudos to Chris Matthews for taking on Buchanan. This was great TV.

And, then on lastFriday night, CNN, Campell Brown, was interviewing Pat's sister, Bay Buchannan. These two were also going at it over Sarah Palin. Loved t!

No sooner was it out of my mouth than msnbc is moving Matthews back to the second string. The guy is a time bomb just waiting to go off again.

Now is the time to put away the Republicans in their corner...The lame excuses and the triple spinning of malicious lies and distortions are sickening...Now is the time for the Media to set the records straight..No mercy for the Republicans !!!

Pat Buchanan is not an analyst. His views are so biased that anyone paying him is making a contribution to the RNC. Find more balanced, smart analysts.

Matthews has always had an inferiority complex but when Olbermann came along it became really glaring.

His attack on Buchanan was part of his attempt to regain his alpha status in the pecking order at msnbc. Fortunately Buchanan pretty much stuffed Matthews words back us his arse where they came from in the first place.

I really think Matthews is on the verge of a breakdown. Don't be surprised if he's gone after the election.

What an idiotic remark, Aubrey8. Like him or not, Matthews comments are valid.

You have to be kidding, Buchanan is nothing but a shill. He is suppose to be an analyst. But all he does is say really dumb comments pro Republican when obviously they are not true. I don't mind someone being right wing and giving positive analysis in that direction. But it should be honest. Buchanan is such an extreme right winger he is out in the nether lands. He has no value as an analyst. At least Chris tries to see both sides, even though he leans left mostly.

Ya, women's rights as long as they fall into the man-made rules of the "men" in charge of churches, etc.

And, why does Palin have to act masculine to be accepted? Can she not just be a strong woman?

Well... They couldn't sell her on intelect now could they. Rednecks don't buy "intelect" so they fitted her with a huge nutsack. Rednecks buy critter killing, guns and Jesus. The GOP will win with this stunt. Don't missunder-estimate the stupity of Americans...

probably because Obama supporters keep saying she is a horrible mother for working. I guess Obama supporters aren't to big on women's rights. Just ask Hillary!

PLEASEEEE, ENOUGH with the Hillary comparisons! The only thing Plain and Hillary have in common is a vagina!

Sarah Palin is a less than two term governor of the 3 smallest state! Her so called "experience" is limited, based on where her so called experience comes from. She's already in trouble for abuse of power. Her desire to remover certain books from the PUBLIC library is more troubling and he church teaching on "changing gays" is insane! She wants "abstinence only" sex education taught, and we can see how well that worked AND she against abortion EVEN in the case of rape of incest!
I could give a rat's a** about Palin being a so called "working mother"! She an unqualified, right wing evangelical nut!

Sarah Palin is controlled by the ventriloquists of the McCain campaign media strategists. Her words were not her own. She's completely coached. She's a puppet. She wont even take questions from the media and neither will McCain anymore. The McCain campaign are the ones using elements of celebrity here in order to win an election. So she looks like a quintessential sitcom mom. Who cares.

America, don't be a bunch of suckers.

Hmmm...... how long did it take for Obama to sit down opposite Bill O'Reilly? About a year and a half, right? Even while watching the interview I sensed the Chosen was intimidated. He's a wimp and fights like a girl. Sarah would bench press him in a minute.

No one is asking Sarah to go on a specific news show, like Fox. We're asking her to go on ANY news show!

And the only reason she isn't going on Fox, where she would be pampered and protected, is because if she did, she would open herself up to the other venues.

Obama's appearance on the O'Reilly show was not his first interview on Fox, and he did well in both interviews. Unlike Sarah, he didn't hold back for prep classes, nor did he say that he would NEVER sit with the MSM for questions; but he didn't allow them (Fox) to dictate to him the particulars of the interview, such as when it would take place. He interviewed with them on his own time, not their's.

Shelly,
You are absolutely right. The McCain campaign continues to control Sarah Palin in every step of the way.

Somewhere I read today, that "they"were not going to subject her to the media while all the bad press about her is going on. They are waiting until "she feels comfortable with herself" and "they still need to coach her on what to say." This is absolutely ludicris.

First of all why should we be proud of Sarah, let us be proud of a woman we all know you all are in a wonderful uproar about her but of course what else do you expect from some men, how dare you let her drop down from Alaska where ever that is and all of us women should be proud, I don't think so.

I say if you don't like her policies don't vote for her, but don't attack her, as many people here and in the media have been doing for being a working mother. What is wrong with Obama, why does he constantly attack women!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:17 AM on 09/07/2008

You've lost any sense of reality, assuming you have any to start with!

Obama IS NOT attacking Palin for working!
NO ONE is attacking Palin for working!

Using that pathetic excuse is OLD when faced with the reality that Palin is the most unqualified PERSON to become VP since Bush became president!

My mother is still talking about the FLAP between Pat Buchanan and Chris Matthews. I love Chris Matthews, and I can tell you all right now, I am still watching MSNBC every, single night he and Olbermann are on. Republican or not, I also love Joe Scarborough, because even though I don't agree with him, he is still so moderate compared to the rest of the GOP.

MSNBC I've been watching your coverage of all things political since January 2008. however since the allegation of sexism was thrown your way this week I noticed how all of a sudden you don't want to do your job. MSNBC you owe it to the people to do your job. I'am disappointed in the bais coverage I'm a woman and I believe in fair play. If you want to play with the big boys then expect to be treated like a big boy!!!
Shame on you MSNBC.
