MIchelle Obama On Ellen: "Our Third Child Is This Campaign"

Michelle Obama has no comment about the news that Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant.

"This shouldn't be an issue for political discussion," she told Ellen DeGeneres in an interview during the sixth season premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Monday.

The response came after DeGeneres described Barack Obama's statement that Bristol was "off limits" as "amazing."

"Absolutely," Michelle said. "That's one of the reasons why I'm proud of my husband and I love him -- He's been very protective of our kids through this process.

"His view is that, 'What's good for my kids is good for everybody's kids,' and I completely agree with him," she added. "I know that they care about their kids, and we should let them deal with this issue."

But the Obamas are not planning to expand their family.

"I think I'm done," Michelle revealed. "I think our third child is this campaign."

Michelle Obama certainly shines in the face of what we saw two nights ago - a woman named Sarah with a loud, nasal heavily accented voice spouting an agenda of hate and divisiveness. Michelle with her quiet, purposeful motherhood is such is a contrast to Palin, who throws five children and an impending grandchild to the media hounds and then claims the right of privacy.

I hope in the short time left until November, this country will understand that real family values lie within the devoted marriages of Barack and Michelle Obama and Joe BIden with his lovely wife. With these two couples, you will find children that have been raised with loving care and a thought to the future.

My southern grandmother used to have a saying about the raising of children:

Some children are raised up - meaning those with good parenting.

And other children are 'snatched up' - in reference to those whose parents didn't really 'get it' when it came to child rearing. Broken marriages and hodge podge home lives can cause a 'snatching up' to occur.
