Plenty magazine has named its top 20 people and top 20 businesses in the game of green innovation. They seemed to have skipped me, but next year I'm going to really step up my game, train in the offseason, etc., so the people listed below had better watch out:

Al Gore

Andrew Revkin
Charles Moore
David de Rothschild
Fred Krupp
Frederick Kirschenmann
Heidi Cullen
James Hansen
Joe Lovett
Kathleen Sebelius
Kevin Wall
Lester Brown
Maude Barlow
Michael Pollan
Mindy Lubber
Nicholas Negroponte
Peter Diamandis
Van Jones
Vinod Khosla
William McDonough & Michael Braungart

Head over to their site for bios and explanations on the Plenty 20. There, you'll also find the list of green pioneering businesses honored.

But maybe you're thinking to yourself, "Innovation is hard." Well, you're right. And it's not getting any easier lately, according to HuffPost blogger Judy Estrin.

Also be sure to check out honored-by-Plenty Vinod Khosla's most recent blog for HuffPost on the difficulty of evaluating biofuels.

I'm kind of partial to Amory Lovins (of the Rocky Mountain Institute), who certainly deserves to be on this list.

Innovation is easy actually.
Finding money to innovate or even keep going in this miserable economy is what's hard. You have to fill out a net worth statement and go through a credit check now just to get over draft protection on your business checking account now. Greedy venture capitalist and even angels now require more paperwork than banks and only want to invest of they make 500% returns on their money and the option to slice up the company and sell it off when it suits them.
All this talk about going green will go nowhere if the people with money on this country keep playing the same old games. We've been a green company before there was such a term and every where we look for credit right now, the answer is no or fill out this wheel barrel full of paper work, make sure you have ace credit and then get in line and maybe we'll answer the door when you knock.

This list is seriously lacking Shai Agassi, who's game changing "Project Better Place" in Israel and spreading around the globe, is addressing infrastructure in order to "de-tool" us from oil-addicted personal transportation and the inefficient internal combustion engine forced on the public.

dear Sen. Obama, you really should have picked Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, that is unless your going to promote her to a cabinet position? Start giving out your picks as to whom will serve US, before McSame does it!

Palin's inexperienced would not have gobbled up Kathleen Sebelius. If Obama had picked Kathleen, McCain would have certainly have gone with Tim Pawlenty or Joe Lieberman as his running mate, and Obama would be facing a lot of heat from the press for picking another woman over Hillary. Come on poeple think!

Most of the biggest names, movers and shakers, in the push to "go green" and rid the world of pollution are some of the biggest abusers of the environment. It seems like they know they're destroying things, but they want to erase their guilt. If Al Gore wanted to truly make a difference, he wouldn't have a large wasteful house, cars, nonstop flights everywhere, a yacht, etc. Practicing what you preach means living a simple, humble life. Many people can actually survive in studio apartments, and taking public transportation or their bikes. There is nothing "green" about a frivolous lavish lifestyle. http://mespace.wordpress.com

Gross generalizations, lack of knowledge and the absence of any nuanced understanding of the necessity to "crawl before you walk" will always doom those who choose to speak without first understanding that brain function is required beforehand.
Your attempt at combining insight and veracity resemble a Jackson Pollock painting.

It is great to know that the green movement is getting a lot of press these days and backing from some very strong people in the world. I run my own green t-shirt line and it is great to know that the message is getting out there. (alottosay.com)
