Keith

We mentioned this last night, but here is the video documentation. Last night, the RNC played a 9/11 tribute (video below) that was taken live on CNN and MSNBC (FNC was in Bill O'Reilly's taped Sen. Barack Obama video). After MSNBC came back, Keith Olbermann railed against the decision, and saying it was, "probably not appropriate to be shown" because of the "graphic" images.

Later he wrote a Daily Kos comment about the incident, saying, "Reading your great points here not only leavens my mood a little bit after this unexpected confrontation with propaganda makes me think that I might revisit this next week."

Keith Olbermann is a complete waste of space.

The video on 9/11 is not shown enough. Maybe Keith Olberman would prefer to forget the tragedy as his fragile emotions cannot take the sorrow of the horrible tragedy that befell America that day. Yes, the video stirs powerful emotions, and conjurs up anger towards Radical Islam, and then maybe thoughts ponder on Muslims as a whole. But that isn't politically correct is it? So let's shove the whole incident into the back recesses of our minds and forget it ever happened.
Whatever happened to, 'Remember the Alamo'? Why do we recognize 'Pearl Harbor Day'? Should the History Channel not program for those subjects? Should they not show video of Japanese bombers hitting the Harbor? Forgotten history is often repeated. Does Vietnam remind you of anything today?
Maybe the RNC was doing a little fear pandering, but I think Olberman's response was just as inappropriate if not denegrating to those who actually died in the 9/11 attacks. The heroes of Flight 93, the brave New York Firemen and Police, and other Emergency responders to the common men who helped that day. We do not celebrate those attacks. We celebrate the heroes, we remember the victims, and we should always fight to make sure it never happens again.

If MSNBC hadn't given Keith enough rope to start hanging the hypocritical frauds, we would've had to invent someone to take that place anyway. It's a wonder that someone in the MSM stopped insulting our intelligence; now if only the RNC would join in and admit that their shameful use of the tragedy (which is already unravelling as to the administration's complicity in the coverup) was but another cold calculation designed to play on our fears and, of course, insult our intelligence.

Keith may have that righteous indignation that might offend some, but he is the ONLY one (except his protege and heroine in her own right Rachel Maddow) that speaks to the smart/stupid, mature/immature, authentically compassionate vs. coldly calculating dynamic, not the 'left/right', 'conservative/liberal' dynamic that other MSM journalists still try to prop up, more and more fruitlessly. And he shows humility at the same time, a tough feat.

Keith Olberman is and always will be my hero. I'm appalled at his being fired and I will never watch MSNBC again. I can't believe that John McCain is four percentage points ahead of Sen Obama. What are the American people thinking? But than again they elected George Bush twice...

So elite, wise and out of touch.

Here Here! (clinking of the glasses)
I was in Denver for the convention and stood at the MSNBC broadcasting lot watching Keith, Rachel, Chris, David, and Eugene for hours for most of the week. Aside from a few other events at the convention, this was my highlight! I finally got an opportunity on Wednesday night after the airing to meet, take a pic, and get Keith's autograph. Big deal for me and totally made my week!
The only reason I watch MSNBC is because of Keith. If I can't get coverage by Keith that I know will at least be truthful, then I will resign to no coverage at all. I will catch what I want on you tube. Forget MSNBC! I will tune in for "Countdown", but if they tamper with that, I am done!
A true testament of how much the truth really hurts and how determined the repugs are to keep mesmerizing the American people with lies and fantasy. Shame on them for using 9/11 as a political platform ploy.
Hat's off! Keith.
Peace!

OBAMA/BIDEN '08

The RNC is shameless and so is McCain for using the memory of the victims of 9-11 for political gain just so they can get more votes. Keith will once again deliver a profound, factual and thoughtful special comment. This video was disturbing I hope Keith calls out the RNC for their hypocrisy and tactics of fear and smear. Only this year they won't work. McCain could not have chosen a worse person for VP. Palin is a joke.

I see nothing wrong with showing some of the events of 9/11, and my friend lost her husband that day. This country has a very short memory and as sad as it is, this horrific event is being forgotten as well.
I think the republicans and McCain want to remind people in this country of how horrible that day was, what was lost , the innocent lives but most of all I think he wanted to remind all of us that this, this horrible event can and may happen to us again and maybe even worse.
The events of that day have been shown many times so Mr Ober what ever his name is, is just a news man with a democaratic agenda and does not know how to be unbias.

I think I would want to have anyone other than this (I really don't know what to say about him) He is so out of touch. This is why the democrats will not win in November. Keep having this kind of garbage speak for you. Is he pretending to cry?

LovePalin I watch the video of Palin speaking at a church in her home town. Talking
about god's will, "it is god's will to build a pipeline" WAR "it is god's task for us to do"
Please wake up, she is a conning government official using God's name in vain.

Keith, accurately, presents current events and politics.

Isn't that the truth. Religion is not evil, but the people who will use it willingly to support their own agendas and manipulate people into following them are.

I too felt saddened by the video. I miss life prior to Sept. 11, when there weren't alert levels and people could greet me when I got off of an airplane and I didn't worry about needing to be strip searched before boarding. (The alert level has never been green again, it seems.)

In high school we had to read "1984", and I remember that "Big Brother was watching you..." but I never thought it could really happen, courtesy of Congress. And saying you don't agree will open yourself to questions about your patriotism, McCarthy-style.

With the changes happening, our youth may grow up knowing war, and fear of unknown enemies around the bend.

If anything, the video evoked memories of communities pulling together and having a deeper sense of patriotism, the US Flag that I got shortly after it happened, and the memories of the xenophobia that have since run rampant in fringes.

This requires a 2 hour long "Special Comments" session. I hope Keith and Rachel do a tag team on the Republicans. The video was unnecessary. Sort of like watching a horror movie and the evil person does something to the body after the victim expired 6 hours earlier. Over the top.

My main objection to the piece is that the Repubs think that 9/11 should make you vote for them.

When I see 9//1 I get angry that the guy who did it hasn't been caught. And that he now has training camps not only in Afghanistan but in Pakistan. And that his control of 90% of the world's poppy crop not only gives him more money than he can use, but the resulting heroin is enslaving kids in New York as we speak.

And who has been running he show? What if we had sent 30,000 troops to Afghaanistan in 2003 rather than 130,000 to Iraq?

Republican actions have made al Qaeda stronger. They have no business telling anyone how to make America safer. The aftermath of 9/11 is a reason to vote Democratic, not Republican.

I just saw the video for the first time just now, and I have no words for how sick and low it was. Nothing but exploitation, it should have been given not one moment of air time. It was certainly no tribute to the victims (where were they?). I am disturbed by the linkage to Iran, which is clearly meant for people who are uninformed and uneducated - those who don't know Shia from Sunni, or Arab from Persian.

I imagine that this video of hate, fear and retribution will no doubt become a new campaign ad. It certainly serves to show us how low they will go. And, what they plan to do next, if they somehow regain the WH. This, we cannot allow!

Keith, please paint this for the sick propaganda it is.

Partisan rancor (deep-seated hate) is addictive. It gets the juices flowing. It's ADDICTIVE. Like other drugs (and oil)it's almost difficult to overcome. Some even doubt the possibility. There's hope, however. There's one poll that is undeniably true for all of us. George W. Bush is persona non grata. Thing is, it's not his personality got the country on bended knee, it's his policies (economic, security, energy, civil liberties,...) that have the Republican convention treat him like a leper while the Democrats use him a poster boy and anchor for McCain. As an occasional "rancoeur" or "rancorer" (choose your pick) in a moment of clarity, I say we all start on the same page - No Bush Policies. It seems then that we can all still agree that the next president should be the one with NO BUSH policies. That's the real change we can believe in.

If they want to "own" 9/11, they must own the failures of 9/11 and its aftermath.
