Dakota Fanning, the precocious child actress who help her own against Sean Penn in "I Am Sam" and who has been a big screen fixture since the 2001 film. She turned 14 in February and is currently in Toronto promoting her upcoming film, "The Secret Life Of Bees" looking like a grown up (scroll for pictures of her over the weekend).

She told Foxnews she will behave, unlike other child-turned-adult stars.

Dakota Fanning made a pledge this weekend, to this reporter. It was consummated with a handshake in front of her mother, publicist, agent and pals.

She's agreed: from now to 'til she's 18, the star of "The Secret Life of Bees" isn't going to be holding up any 7-11s, having an unwanted teen pregnancy, or getting any tattoos or piercings.

Of course, this agreement was a light hearted one, made in jest before she went into do press rounds for "Bees." But she means it. "I swear I won't do any of those things!" Dakota declared.

She's a serious actress, folks, and she knows it. Her poise and comportment in "Bees" is such a revelation that she's likely to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress this year.

What a beautiful young woman with natural beauty and class. Make-up and hair people would ruin her. Don't let Hollywood force-feed you trash, Dakota. You go girl!

Much better young actress than Abigail Breslin; hope she has the longer career, ala Jodie Foster.

I'm glad to see she doesn't look as malnourished as she used to.
When she was littler, I always thought she needed eat a sandwich, and then get outside an play in the sunshine.

That's just little girls for you. My oldest daughter is 7 years old and petite like Dakota used to be. She plays soccer and goes running with me on the weekends and isn't malnourished, just thin framed. I suspect Dakota was the same way. Which works to her benefit since she'll probably have good metabolism for the years to come to keep from becoming obese.

14 isn't all grown up.

seriously, I was expecting the article to say she was 18 now or something. 14 is still definitely a kid.

Where did you people grow up? Clearly not in the US and A. American teenagers, a great number of them, have already lost their virginity by age 14. While this may be trending down, there are still a lot of sexually active teens her age.

Being sexually doesn't make you "grown up", not at 14, not at 18, not at 32.

Don't know who she is and could care less, but the first sentence in this piece is in serious need of some editorial attention. It really reflects the "quality journalism" we have come to expect from AP and FOX News.

I agree! The whole article was horribly written! What else can you expect from Fox?
